Travel Insurance
Travel Insurance
Has anyone purchased travel insurance for their Thai partner for a trip to the U.S.A.? I know it is not a requirement, but I am looking for recommendations for an insurance company and any experience one might have had regarding claims made for injury or illness. Thanks in advance.

Re: Travel Insurance
I almost never buy travel insurance, but thought it would be a good idea for a US trip last year.
After plenty of research, I ended up with a policy from MSIG Thailand - https://www.msig-thai.com/en/personal-i ... -worldwide
They were easy to deal with online, and premium was reasonable. I asked if I could increase the maximum medical THB5m), but they wouldn't budge on that,
Can't help with injury or illness reports, as I was fortunate not to have to make a claim.
As a thought, if you are paying by credit card, does that have travel insurance included?

My wife got an annual plan with Bupa Thailand several years ago as we were traveling to the US two or three times that year. Alas Bupa was sold to Aetna then Allianz since then.tutone wrote: ↑July 27, 2023, 3:00 pmHas anyone purchased travel insurance for their Thai partner for a trip to the U.S.A.? My existing Bupa plan at the time allowed for 30 days holiday in the US for accident insurance only, no medical tourism if I recall. You may want to check the fine print on any policy you might already have in case they do cover.
Didn't make a claim so no info there, I'm afraid. More of a piece of mind thing for her really.
JS may be on to something. I have used a Chase card for car rental collision insurance waivers for like 20 years. In that time I did make a claim after someone rear-ended me on a freeway. I had zero out of pocket expense, it was all managed between the rental company, Chase and the other driver's insurance.jackspratt wrote: ↑July 27, 2023, 3:20 pmAs a thought, if you are paying by credit card, does that have travel insurance included?
I see these cards are rated the best for travel insurance by Forbes (you may already have one, "what's in your wallet?" Sorry, an old commercial for Capitol One):
