Thanks for the update on the UK. I live there now and couldn't disagree with anything you said! Hotels, restaurants and travel all expensive. Many prices went up because the minimum wage went up c 10% which in turn went up because of a similar increase in the rate of inflation. So now, for example, cafe lattes up from c £2.60 to c £3.50. Coach travel cheaper than rail, if you can cope with coaches, which I can't.

Re the above quote, can I clarify, are you saying that the over 70's can use the priority immigration lane at Swampy? I have used it before, but only because I had flown Bus class and could use the fast track channel.

Yes, I can confirm that upon arriving at Heathrow, if one is British, you can take your foreign passport holding family with you through the British channel. Though, that said, due to lack of staff they have been tending to direct everyone to e-gates.

My mate back in UK sorted out his pensions and retired a few months ago. More recently, he sold his car (was only ever used for the work commute), got his bus pass and goes everywhere for free. No more road tax and insurance. In fact he got a partial refund on the latter.
