Bangkok for Kids.

Post by Prenders88 » December 16, 2007, 4:56 pm

My Wife, Daughter, and Granson are meeting me in Bangkok, my Grandson is four years old, any ideas for day trips for the little man.
I've heard there is a water park and theme park outside the city, any one know?

Maybe thinking of Dream World. Never been there, but the wife says the rides are mostly for older kids. There's also Siam Park, which my my son (5) & daughter (2) loved. It's a water park and have some rides for younger kids. My son's been bugging me about going back. Also, also went to the Dusit Zoo.

Also looking for suggestions, especially something in the Udon, KK region and fun for a 9yo boy.
Here is what I found for the BKK region:
Childrens Discovery Museum - http://www.bkkchildrenmuseum.com/english/
Been there about 2 years ago and it is fun. Enough to do, also for younger children with nice indoor and outdoor playareas. It is not far from Chatuchak market, end of the BTS line.

Have been to Dreamworld and a 4yo can have a lot of fun there. Just pick your rides as not everything is suitable for him.
Dusit Zoo was very nice too.

And here some links I collected for early next year, no experience yet but love to hear what others think of it (will bring a 9yo and 2 yo):
Sylvanian
Wonderworld Funpark
Siam Park

But I sum it up in one link: http://www.bangkok.com/fun-stuff-for-kids/index.html This is where I got most of the attractions from.

and please... don't forget SAFARI World in Min Buri which is about 10 kilometers northeast of Don Muang Airport!! Dolphin/Sea Lion/Seal Show.. Orangutang show, many many animal displays.. Elephant show, Tiger show and on and on.. Not too mention the drive through Safari Park with herds of Giraffes, Gazelles, and other plains animals..
beat the crowds!! go on a weekday that is not a Thai holiday.. While visiting Safari world and walking between the shows my grandkids got to play with orangutangs and a baby elephant being walked around the park by animal handlers..

See the link http://safariworld.com/

and a quick one. it's a show a bit over an hour long.. The Thai Red Cross Snake Farm near the intersection of Rama IV and Rachadamri near Lumpini Park.. My grandkids were thrilled to have a Burmese Python wrapped around their shoulders!!

and yes, Dreamworld is pretty good, particularly the Snow house that has a sledding slope.. The elephant show their is great too. see the link:

and my grandkids also loved going to the emporium where there are some nice kids attractions...

The less litiginous Thai culture means that many things considered "dangerous" in western society happen over here all the time.. In the States my grandkids would never be able to play with a young orangutang or a baby elephant or handle snakes at the Red Cross Snake farm... All supervised by trainers with no problems.... It's been years since they were over in Bangkok at these places but fondly remember the experiences..
