I experienced my problems this January. I seem to recall a message stating that they were upgrading their web site shortly to accept all credit cards!
Maybe they have done this by now, but like you say John, strange that Thai and Nok are the same company and one has a different booking policy.?

Gary.

Nokair have always had some sort of Thai credit card only acceptance. My partner and I have tried to book flights several times on Nok using our Amex and Visa Kiwi based credit cards both inside and outside Thailand, and always failed. Only way we could get our bookings is borrow Thai family credit card identities, booking a few days before arriving in Thailand and then pay them back once there. Its a pain in the ass and the height of stupidity the way it is, regardless whether it is policy or just system non acceptance.

No problems with Thai or AirAsia.

I flew Nok in November 2005 and used a credit card issued in the States. In fact I used Visa for the trip up and MC for the return.

I booked and paid for Nok flights in June, July and December last year, all from the UK with a UK (Visa) card and using their online site. I'll be trying them again shortly so I'll let you know how I get on.

Makes me wonder if it's only when you try to book Nok Air when you are already in Thailand thats the problem?
Must admit to having not tried booking whilst in UK.

I have booked and payed with my VISA and Mastercard (swedish account). Both in Thailand and whilst staying in Sweden.

I had the same problem with my UK issued visa card; I had to book a ticket at the Nok Air counter instead.

At the time they said they were working on new anti fraud software so maybe this system is in place now?

From thaivisa.com;

This is a major issue! Try using a foreign (non Thai bank) Visa card when booking Nok Air and see how far you get! They're not interested as clearly they must have lost a lot of money to credit card fraud! They say they're updating thier credit card software, but they've been 'updating' it for 2 or 3 months now! Non acceptance of foreign credit cards must have an impact on their business.

Booked today with Nokair using a UK issued Credit card (Egg) albeit with my registered address as a UK address. But my current address as asked for as part of the booking proceedure now as that in Thailnd.
I am not sure they would issue you a card if you told them you were living in Thailand! Just as much as I am sure you would not get a Thai issued credit card as a farang ??? - although maybe someone has succeeded??????

I also Booked online with NOK today, no problems. Used UK card and from the UK. Maybe they have now sorted out their security update.

With Nok Air, is there any reason you only book 2-3 months ahead? Also, when you purchase online, is it basically the same as an E-ticket on other major airlines? Just wondering how I get on the plane once we get there. One more (sorry!)... is there a particular form of identification that is required , i.e. passport &/or other picture id?

Lila, take the email confirnation you should get, the credit card you booked with, and your passport.

You do not really need the email copy; it just speeds it up, Yes exactly the same as an E-Ticket elsewhere
