Post by johnbarryseven » August 27, 2008, 7:04 pm

Please could you be of assistance, a friend of mine living in Sweden wants to bring his used motor cycle to Thailand. He wants to know how much the tax would cost him and the cost of registering and plates would be. Any assistance would greatly be appreciated.

thank you

Whether this is true or not I don't know .........
If the M/Cycle is registered in your TG/TW's name in your country of origin and kept insured etc. etc ( in her name) for 2 yrs, she can import into Thailand tax free as a personal possession :?
Great if it works..... the TW gets a Harley chop in her name next month when we hit the UK  then only got to wait 2yrs to save the 200% import duty :D

In case where an importer is a Thai resident marrying a foreigner, he/she is required to present documentary evidence of marriage and proof of changing residence to Thailand. Also the importer has to own and possess the imported vehicle for at least one and a half year while staying abroad, from the date of transferring the ownership to the date of arrival into Thailand.
