Possible in Bangers, or Phuket maybe...
You can hire small bikes, like Honda Wave, Suzuki Smash, etc...
Prices range from 150- 250 Baht/day.
For around town use, you won't need anything bigger... honest
The biggest bike I ever rented in Udon was a Suzuki LS650 Savage @ 400 bht/day in April this year...nice if you like a cruiser but dont wanna take a pillion cos its a bit small It was in Titkattanon on the right just as you turn in off Prajak rd,they also have scooters at either 150 or 200 bht/day (cant remember exact price )
There may be a place you can rent a big bike not sure as I have never done it myself, but rumor is you can rent them from Gigggios at the big bike shop on ring road. A word of caution that is a rumor no personal experience.
If you ride in Pattaya shouldn't have any problems here. Just remenber the elephants at night, water buffallos in the day time and the ever present pot holes. There are great village rides all around the town. Just pick a road and go. The only downside to small bike on the village rides is comfort, they easily handle the safe speeds.
If you get a big bikes I really recommend that yuo keep the speeds down because roads will just literally disappeear out on the village, wiht no warning whtsoever. So it's safest to kee[ the speeds down unless you really know the road you are on. Plus yuo will get much more of a chance to se things and visti with people.
The Nong Khia highyway is excellent as is the Khan Kean Highyway. The sukunakorn highyway is a different story. Pretty much one lane each direction bikes lanes stop at bridges, Traffic is heavy with lots of trucks and near miss passing. Not one I enjoy much.
A really beautiful ride is to Si Chaing Mia back up through the mountains to Loie and then back to Udon, through Nong Bua Lampu. Me I take two days on that one but many do it a a day ride.
Have fun be safe
