Beware when using these if the driver has nobody on board and ask where you want to go, and you sit in front he will rip you off at least 200 baht as you are deemed to have hired the bus. Just got ripped off on number 6 bus registration 10 5092 University to Tesco ring road 4 kilometre 200 Baht, Been here a year and only just learn this.

I think if you take a Songteaw off its sheduled route the driver he or she can charge what they like ... as its deemed as hiring the bus for a specific trip/destination , tho the bus should not pick up any other passengers en route to your desired location and a price should be agreed before setting off ,,, i may be wrong .

The driver may have taken advantage of the situation but it appears to be more of a misunderstanding then a scam or a rip off.

Saw a song thew blow his left front tire this morning on my way from Nong Wauso to Udon...He was overloaded with school children and luckily he was not driving too fast and was able to stop and pull off the road...a very dangerous situation
