Tiger begins flights to Udon Thani

Singapore (dpa) - Low-cost carrier Tiger Airways launched its first flight on Tuesday from Singapore to Thailand's Udon Thani, the only international airline to operate scheduled direct flights between the two destinations.

Udon Thani, which also serves as a gateway to Vientiane, Laos, became Tiger's sixth destination in Thailand. The others are Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Krabi and Phuket.

Officiating on the inaugural flight were Thai ambassador to Singapore Chalermpol Thanchitt and Laotian ambassador Done Somvorachit, said a Tiger statement.

On arrival in Udon Thani, Tony Davis, chief executive officer of the Singapore Airlines-backed-Tiger, said the latest destination provides "new tourism and trade opportunities."

"It is a great honour to be the first international carrier to serve Udon Thani and the people in North-East Thailand as well as provide greater access to Vientiane and Laos," he said of the three flights a week.

Tiger also flies to Vietnam, Macau, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia and Singapore.
I just hope there were some immigration staff there to stamp them in!

Yes they will when they see how cheap the prices here are for hotels, food and booze. The beer prices in Singapore are scandalous.

I wonder if there will any flights into Udon Thani from other places, in the future.

"...also anyone know what the weather is like in Singapore that time fo the year."

The same as the rest of the year: HOT.

Hot and wet if I recall correctly.
