dumb questions - again

My wife is going to visit her family in a couple of days and asked me to find out about car rentals in Udorn. I believe this has come up several times recently but I can't find out where on the forum. javascript:emoticon(':oops:') Where is the best place to rent and about how much will she pay per day ??? Would it be better to rent car with driver ???

Also my son and daughter will be in Udorn later this month, they are both in their early 30's. What is the easiest way to cross over to Vientiane. Isn't there a bus from Udorn that takes them over the bridge and avoids the hassle? Or should the just walk over the bridge avoiding expediters etc?

Sorry to ask these questions again, but your answers would greatly help. My kids have both spent their childhoods growing up in Africa and Middle East (daughter born in Bangkok) but I still worry about them over-there by them selves. No street smarts...

My trip is delayed a few months, inner ear disease makes flying impossible for a while. Hope to meet you at latest for the rocket festival. I'll cut off my ears rather than miss that.

Best place to rent a car would be from Steve's Udon - http://www.stevesudon.com

There is a luxury bus that goes to Vientiene 3 times daily. Cost is 80 Baht each way. Easiest way to go.

Make sure that they have extra photos with them to cross the boarder.

Carry American dollars for cheaper prices in Laos. This includes at the boarder. Cost is now $35 USD

since my question a few minutes ago, Lee has posted about a dozen pages of different hotels in Udorn. You guys are great (some times) - oops there goes my new year's resolution to be nice.

I do appreciate you help and will post a more controversial subject next time.
