Flew Perth - Sing - Udon on 2/3 April, for about $450 (one way). This included S$25 for seat selection on Perth - Sing leg (well worth it - rows 12 and 13 are the best), and S$25 for extra 5kg baggage.
Flight is basic, but quite comfortable. 3 hour stopover in Budget Terminal in Sing, but cheap meals available at Han's restaurant. Warning - get to the check-in queue early (you have to go through Sing Immigration and Customs when you arrive, and again when you leave 3 hours later). The Sing - Udon leg was virtually full, mainly returning Thai workers.
I was surprise here - they allocated seats at the check-in counter, and I was able to get row 13 even though I was quite late checking in.
Immigration at Udon was friendly and efficient. Got a big smile and some chat with the immigration guy when he saw I had a 12 month visa. Asked him if he issued many, and he said no.
Straight through Customs, which was a relief as I had a near new laptop, and quite a few small electrical items in my baggage.
I will use Tiger again when I visit Perth in August (assuming there are no better/comparable) deals available eg with SQ ex Sing.
I am concerned however that Tiger is not showing any Udon - Sing flights for their timetable after 28 October 2007. Based on the loading ex Sing to Udon, I assume the flight is profitable.

re Tiger
I just did Singapore to Udon with Tiger on the cheap flight, found it very disorganised, I bought extra weight and it was on my ticket but not on there passenger list and I had to argue out of paying again each way. Also they allocate seating alphabetically which meant myself, my wife and my kids sat in 3 different places on the plane which was annoying and they wouldn't budge on changing and putting us together.
I guess you get what you pay for.

Re: re Tiger
Thats strange. I recently flew both ways on this route and was informed there was no seat allocation. Sit where you want. The excess baggage was strict though. Although paying for a 5 kilo upgrade to 20ks I was charged for every kilo over, no leeway at all, rather awkward having come off a London flight where not a murmer about overweight. I was informed its company policy because its an economy flight. When I taught the check in girl some maths, dividing my flight cost on Emirates by miles flown, then the same excercise for the Tiger flight, it showed a per miles cost considerably higher on Udon/ Singapore.kakariki wrote:I just did Singapore to Udon with Tiger on the cheap flight, found it very disorganised, I bought extra weight and it was on my ticket but not on there passenger list and I had to argue out of paying again each way.
