Is it better to buy a clip on, plugs into the lighter, camera or one more permanently installed.

Where is the best place buy and what model for the widest field of view?

If more permanently installed, where to get it done?

Go past the main bus station in town, on you’re left and straight over the lights and half way down there’s a large drive in shop in between all the exhaust and tyre shops. They will install a a camera above the rear bumper and a clip on rear view mirror camera , looking forward ( which automatically comes on when the ignition is turned on) about 2400 Baht, all cables hidden, about 2 hours to fit. Very good job, works fine.

In the old Big C Mall by the back parking lot on the KFC end is a guy who sells a variety of Car Cameras. He installed a set (front mirror camera clip on) and rear camera (under bumper) in both our Nissan March and Isuzu D-Max pickup. He gave us a discount price for getting two and a year warranty on the actual mirror/camera system. He installs the system in your car in the parking lot. It's and OUMAX system and has a decent field of vision 1080P definition and records to a 16GB memory chip installed in the mirror unit. It records in 3 minute clips with two tracks; one front and one rear. Its good for about 1.5-2 hours of clips total and if you wish you can buy a 32GB chip at any computer outlet for about 500 Baht to increase storage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvYosxoXxY4 You can play any captured video back on the mirror unit or pop out the chip and with an adapter plug it into a PC or laptop..

BTW, we had one of the units go bad and the guy honored his warranty, replacing it after verifying our unit was bad at no cost..

the OUMAX model shown in the video link is sold as the LULAE brand in Thailand.. One downside to the LULAE model is that the English instructions are nearly indecipherable but you can find detailed instructions on the net searching OUMAX and the model number...

Is your camera wired to the cars power or plugged into a power point (like in the youtube video)?

plugged into the DC outlet with the power cable routed under the dash and around the interior windshield molding.. Its hidden quite well. Price was around 4700 baht for two complete sets including the installation into two vehicles.. You can try bargaining the guy down...

I have a cheap version of a backup camera (in the rear view mirror).....I have a cheap version of a forward looking camera that mounts on the windshield. Both work fine enough......but now that I know I can't live without them, I wouldn't mind upgrading to a more expensive all-in-one dash mounted screen (Vigo truck). Does anyone have experience with an after-market all-in-one? Price/store name? Thanks
