For those Ozzies who were looking forward to using your FF points to fly from Brisbane, Sydney, Melb to BKK, get your bookings in fast, as at Oct 2007.

its all changing.

What changes are coming? I booked Melb/Bkk/Tokyo/Osaka/Bkk/Melb with Thai this morning on special fare of A$1,318.63 pp including all taxes and charges. Understand the special fares finish on June 26th but flights are mainly full and I had to take ex Melb on June 9th afternoon flight. Didn't use my miniscule outstanding ffp's but will be interested to learn what will happen as I expect to make another flight before October.Thanks.

East coast Oz to BKK now is 55,000 to redeem, used to be 45,000 points/ miles , so you have to fly more to get s free flight

east coast to BKK you get 4500 miles, which used to take 10 trips to get 1 free trip 10 x 4500= 45000 now it will take 12 trips before you get free trip

previously 10% of your trip towards a free trip, now only 8%

So you have to fly more often for the same thing under the old system

Thanks AussieBoy, that's a bummer but I'd still prefer Thai especially from Melbourne over the Flying Dog and its mongrel pup. Hopefully Tiger will be a great alternative.

FF Points

Post by wazza » May 31, 2007, 2:08 pm

Basically they have assessed this route, and have seen too many FF flights being used, and have upped the points needed.

I will still fly with TG, the Gold card last week, got me a FF flight BKK to Melb on an already overbooked flight, with no more wait listing allowed. Its on the date i wanted and also the return date. So thats still worth something to me.

It was 22500 points, due to my birthday award certificate, ( 50 % off ) just couldnt upgrade to business class for 45000, as every seat has already been paid for already.

A birthday card was sent to Gold status members that contained a 50 percent savings on award travel to all Thai destinations worldwide and on all classes of service, during the member's birthday month and the months preceding and following.
