Due to change of nokair policy and aeroplane,no more business seats to Udon Thani.I believe though that by booking economy seat and paying excess fee over 15kgs it would still work out cheaper than economy on Thai airways.

When I flew from Bangkok to Udon Thani the Nok Air staff told me that as long as my luggage did not exceed 18 kgs. there would be no extra charge even though the limit is officially set at 15 kgs.. One of my suitcases logged in at 18.5 and there was no problem over paying the excess fee.

I suspect that THAI were losing premium "business class" business to Nok Air and it was affecting its load capacity numbers and therefore costing THAI money.

As Nok is only a "budget airline" subsidiary of THAI it would not be allowed to take business away from its parent for long before being stopped.

The airline business (like most) is about the bottom line, not customer service - and I have often heard that airline managements only think of passengers as self loading freight.

There was an item in the Post a month or two back, in which Thai was pressuring Nok to raise its prices so that it would not take so many passengers away from Thai (As I remember, Nok was Thai's response to Air Asia entering the domestic market, and Thai owns a little less than 50% of Nok.)

Thai had suggested th, and Nok's board was insisting that they were bound to represent the best interest of ALL stockholders.=D>

Maybe the elimination of the Nok Plus seats on the BKK <=> UTH run was a compromise solution to the standoff.
