Loosing Weight

Post by Sakhonnick » May 20, 2014, 5:30 pm

Has anybody who suffered from Obesity managed to loose weight and keep it off?

Up to the age of 25 i was fit and strong my weight was about 90KG, for my size about right

When i was 34 i hit 132KG and decided to get fit again, hard work in the gym and carefull diet and 6 months later i was below 100KG and feeling good again

Fast forward 4 years to today, well last week.... i hit the scales again at 133KG this time 293lbs its bad

So i have started on my fitness life again to try and get to a target weight of 95KG which for my build will be perfect

Like to know if anybody has managed this before and managed to keep it off!! now having a Son im doing it for him

6ft and 75kg, and within the approriate fat to weight ration of 20 - 25%, or whatever the new age ruddy thingy is..so read and weep brother...hahaha...sorry Matey couldnt help it, but I still have love handles now and a spare tube if I dont sit straight..

I spent years as a champion sportsman, and weight trainer. I was the ' Sunday Male ' posed on the back page of the Sunday paper..Pounded the streets for thousands of miles, rowed skinny skiffs at the crack of dawn, and pedalled my dads old track bike over hill and dale etc etc..exercise is one thing, but diet is the major IMO..your eating too much and not doing any exercise..I eat once a day. If I did more exercise than shovelling horse sh.t every other day, I could get back to my 65kg that I was from highschool thru to 45yrs old...buts thats to light..I am just right now at the sliver fox age..

my advice, knock off the beers, wine, coffee and the sugar..especially the sugar, but exercise as well, ( plenty of s.x is like running 7miles ) or you will end up with just alot of loose skin hanging around that wont shrink to fit your body..you have to reduce all at the same time...my mate was a fat dude, then pumped iron into an obsession, ended up looking light a baby elephant with all this loose skin literally hanging off him..lost weight to fast, and had to put it back on again, then take it off again by slower means..

are you fat, or just a big boy..theres a difference..
so you are 38yrs and 133kg
you have a son you want to be alive to spend time kicking a ball around with, so theres your motivation..
set a weekly exercise plan , and go for it...I want updates

Loosing Weight

Post by Sakhonnick » May 20, 2014, 7:14 pm

Thanks for the encouragement guys.

Im actually now 130KG, as ive been hard at it 5 days now, I know you will say its just water but in the gym im keeping my heart rate above 150 so I know im burning fat

My head is back on it as I have done this before 4 years ago but when I hit 100KG I was so happy I went out and scoffed a curry and chips and the decline started again.

Im just under 6ft, 37 and im big built but im not denying it I am fat, im thick set all over not skinny legs and arms and a huge gut just thick set all over but I do have a gut right now and unsightly tits

wife is 25, 45KG and I have to say nice set on her, the other week the son wanted to go swimming I was so embarrassed to take my shirt off, the little guy had to jump in the pool with my wife and her 2 piece it hit me then I could loose them with my health.

if you like I would update on here, my goal is 95KG and strong by Jan 1st, I love doing weights but I must concentrate on the cardio first before I get back into weight lifting

im glad the switch has clicked again

Yo Nick ...good start Matey..
and by the way, you can always swim in a T Shirt with the little lad if your a tad embarassed..
if you havent got much to do in your day, then you have the prefect chance to set in place a fitness plan, day on day off if weight training, but make it enjoyable..play tennis with the wife with the great buns, or whatever she s got, walk / jog with the boy in the pram, etc etc type of thing..get the whole family into some sport..go for it.

I work offshore month on and off, so im lucky at work I have gym and foods I need to help me and no access to beer

when im at home my plan will be
6-7am walk with dogs
7-8am out on my bike
8-9am weight lifting at my home

this gives me the whole day when the wee man gets up to spend with him

i'll take weekends off while at home and Sundays off while at work

Good on you Nick... I'm the same age as you, I'm 115kg, 18 stone! I want to lose 3 stone by the time I move to Thailand in August... It's bloody hard work out there being overweight isn't it! My advice food wise, little and often, and all the right things. I found that cutting bread out of my diet helps a lot! Anyway matey, keep it up you'll feel so much better at the end of it! Keep updates coming and I'll do the same for a bit of motivation..... Good luck

I was reading recently in a New Scientist magazine that if you're overweight or even a bit obese and fit you are fine (but not if you are fit and very obese). The article said the most important thing for health is to be fit. Unfit and not overweight isn't a great scenario. It's better to be fit and overweight than unfit and not overweight.

For weight management I understand it's 80% what you eat and 20% or less down to your activity level. Good luck.

Nick, riding a bike is not that good a way to loose weight based on thermal imaging..
if you go get down to Nongprajack Park, and join in on the jazzercise, aerobic dance that most of the women do on the Udon Hospital side of the park, and by the Fire Station, in thier lycra, that will cut inches off over time, and tone you up too, and it is also something you can do as a family ( wife) and its not as boring as an indoor gym everyday..still do the weights every second day for one hour, ( 2 minutes between lifts ) but once or twice a week get down to aerobics..and follow the diet..once you are down to 90kg, then you can use the bike more to keep the weight off, and forego the weightlifting..I would lift only 20 - 25kg max ( 3x 10 sets ) weights and concentrate on repetition, rather than trying to lift 100kg in fewer sets...if you cant manage 3 x 10 then start at 2 x 6 and work your way up over the weeks ahead...

Thanks maaka,GT93,nel123,

I actually live in sakon nakhon not Udon, though i do go to udon from time to time

We have the same city parks like Udon with all the people exercising i know we have nice weather in Thailand to be able to do that but it shows the Thais are serious with health and fitness dont see much of that going on in all the towns in the UK!!!

i want all the encourachment thanks but remember i have done this before, it all comes down to calories in and out and heart rate

My weight chart i have made up is not in weight its in calories over weight right now 290,000

7,000calories is equal to 1KG

The park in Sakon has a free weight gym but its pretty old so im going to convert my back yard into a gym thinking of how to do that now and buy some free weights bench and running machine,

I have taken the before shots, these will get posted with the after shots when i hit my goal of 95KG

If you cut potatoes, rice, pasta and bread out of your diet you will find you will lose weight fast without exercise .. you can exercise all you want but if your eating the wrong diet you may be disappointed..

Gee guy's, reading about all you 100kg+ mammoths has made me feel better about myself .Since having to give up my 5 k jog every morning , due to an arthrittic hip, I have steadily risen to nearly 80kg and my waist is now 39". I was going to cut out my daily pinter, but don't think I will now .Might just have my trousers let out a bit . :-"

A year ago I decided I needed to lose a few kg's so I set out counting calories and limiting my daily intake to 1500 cals. In addition I would go for a walk each morning for about an hour. Sticking to this I managed to lose 1kg per week. I have now lost 25kgs and my weight is now under control. My walks have now progressed to runs and so far I am able to run 5km in 30 mins. Now I have a new goal to improve my running pace to better than 5 mins/km. I also hope to increase the distance to say 10km but that may be a few months away.

So the trick is to eat less and exercise more. You will lose weight and gain fitness. Your health will improve and you will feel great.

Cheers :D

I use the online Tescos diet because it works. You log what you eat against a cap of say, 2000 calories a day. That way, you don't resort to ridiculous milkshakes and the like but normal food. I need to go on it again as I'm starting to feel wheezy and bloated when out running. Ballooned from 75 to 80 kg over the past few months. :-"

No, I work with a little Welshman who insists on bringing biscuits into the office and I always take a handful when I make coffee.

I'm not running enough, either.

The Tescos diet will do the job, I'll be down to 75 kgs in no time.
