Preexisting Conditions

Post by newtovillagelife » March 5, 2018, 1:03 am

Hi, I was wondering how much health insurance increases if you have high blood pressure. If you have this condition, does it mean you are not covered for cardiac arrest. I am in my mid fifties, and looking to get insurance.

I don't think there's a direct, mathematical correlation between hypertension and insurance premiums. I doubt there's an insurance company out there that flags a cardiac arrest patient as basically 'do not intervene' or a lost cause due to pre-existing hypertension. However, the small print would need to be checked to see if there are limits to post-event coverage, especially if the hypertension appears to be largely ignored by the patient or repeat events.

Is the current high BP already under control through a regimen of drugs administered by a health professional? Unless there is an underlying medical condition, someone in their mid-fifties should be able to get hypertension under control with some medication, dietary and lifestyle changes. Then get some stress-free, all-inclusive insurance coverage.
