If it is hard to clean, maybe it is time to buy a new one.

There was an experiment done years ago , the british Gov deemed the plastic cutting boards were the most hygenic so therefore implemented a law for the use of white plastic cutting boards , ,( hence manufacturer's went into full production ,) The Australian scientist's proved this was nonsense and the original wood cutting boards were the best due to the natural enzimes etc in the wood that kill's bacteria , But by now it was to late ( the law is coming into place , the manufacturing is in full swing ,) for the British Gov to back down , this is how i remember it all ,it was not made common knowledge at the time , maybe some others on here have further insight on this , I'm British ( i don't shout that to loud ) and i wouldn't trust the British Gov (what ever the party ) as far as i could throw them ,

One of the reasons that plastic cutting board,Were chosen to used in the restaurants ,was that you could have many of them in different colors so easily used from the employers ...different for vegetables other for meat and other for chicken ( the number 1 danger).

Re: WHITE CUTTING BOARDS.....HOW TO CLEAN:
We used to scrape our plastic boards down in the same way you would with wooden boards, to a degree I agree with coloured boards to avoid cross contamination of foods but as Hoopoe says, subsequent research indicates that wooden boards do efficiently eliminate germs but I'm not altogether sure they are better than the use of plastic. Most of the HACCP and SFBB rules were introduced to comply with EU regulation along with such peaches as declaring there is wheat in bread, nuts in peanut butter etc, but for the most, the regulations were good for the customers though.
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

There is a special block with abrasive on it that will get rid of the deeper cuts and give a smooth surface, the only problem is that it's hard work.

In my posts all fees and requirements are the standard R&R but TIT and a brown envelope can make incredible changes YMMV.
