Popeye Passed Away Today

Post by RussellB » December 15, 2010, 3:21 pm

No sure if this is the correct place, But I think alot of people know of "Popeye" or Douglas Thomas. I am afraid he died this morning. I am one of his friends and very sad to see him leave this world.

R.I.P Popeye.

A very sad loss to the Udon expat community. One of the few farang that seemed to be liked as much by the Thai's as by his fellow farang. The memories you leaves behind will ensure you will never be forgotton. RIP Popeye

Will surely be missed. Was without a doubt one of the nicest expats in Udon. Was always kind to all. RIP.

Popeye was undoubtedly one of the most popular westerners in Udon.

While he certainly lived life to the full he was also one of the most helpful and unselfish expats that I have come across on my travels.

Although his language was frequently colourful (and would be considered by many today to be politically incorrect) when coming from him it was neither nasty nor malicious; there were no airs or graces with Popeye, you got exactly what you saw (and heard).

I will miss his company when I return to Udon.

RIP Popeye, you brought happiness to many.

Nice quiet funeral attended by many simple with few trappings. It rained and I bet the old boy was smiling about that.

RIP Popeye.
