RIP Archie - "dozed off" last night in hospital in his home country of Scotland. Succumbed to the cancer he had carried for a year plus. I said I would post his cheery pic and a fond goodbye to old pals and drinking colleagues here in Udon. "One more for my friend please - My bill".. a generous often repeated phrase. Cyas Jock.

Extremely sad news to hear Archie has been taken from us. Will always recall the time we spent together in/by the swimming pool at THOMAS RESORT. Last had a drink with him in T-Bar shortly before his departure for Scotland. He will be missed by all that knew him. R.I.P. Archie Gone but never FORGOTTEN. Terrific photograph Liam.

Archie will be cremated Nov 4th 10:15am Kirkcaldy Crematorium. Archie's instruction was to put a wadge behind the bar of the nearby hotel to facilitate his friends having a drink and then taxis home with no probs on his tab.(ChekBin). IF by any chance anyone is in Scotland at that time they are more than welcome. I understand family is looking for Sandy Cooper over there currently.

The family thanks Udon Map and asked me to pass on best wishes for kind words and that Guy Fawkes day on the 5th would be an appropriate day to toast Archie's BBQ if not the evening of the 4th Thai Time.

All matters are cleared and done. It was a pleasure (most of the time) to take care of Archie for about two years. Sometimes he was cuss - but those who knew him.. know that!

So long Archie, trusted friend, confidant for over 30 years. Last visited him at Leven Beach Nursing Home 4 weeks ago. He was still talking about returning to his beloved Thailand even then. So many memories and laughs along the journey. Stubborn old fart but fiercely loyal. Best Man at my wedding best pal in life. Sandy.

Asked my niece who lives in Dundee if she could attend Archie's Funeral on my behalf and received this via email this a.m.: Just to say I went to the funeral this morning. Very nice send off, Udon was mentioned in despatches too. It was a good turn out and spoke to his two sons explaining I was representing you. Archie sounded a really nice chap.

One of his sons said Dale and Liam had put up a message board for Archie in Udon and hoped you saw it.
