Motorcycle Rental in Udon Thani ??

I will be in Udon in about 2 weeks. I am planning on renting a motorbike while I am there. But there will be a couple of days when I will want something with a tad more "giddy-up" then a 125cc Honda Wave, etc. I am thinking about taking a day trip or two around the area. 250cc to 650cc road bike would be so much more fun.

Does anyone know of rental shops that have these? BKK, Chiang Mai and other cities have them. How about Udon?

I could always rent a car and enjoy the air conditioning but a bike is more fun and gives "natural" air conditioning.

I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

I know Doug from Lek Car Rent used to rent big bikes. I'm not sure if he does now.

Udon ain't a tourist city, no big bike bikes, so all you'll get is 125cc "Purse Snatcher" 99+1 on Prajak Road rent Purse Snatchers.

A shop called Big Cycle in Udon rents motorcycles. 400 cc is 800 baht per day and 1000 cc is 1000 baht per day, etc. BUT the want 20,000 baht deposit on all rental motorcycles.

Does anyone know about this shop? Are they reputable? I have yet to see any place ask for that much deposit.

just as a comparison. I hired a 200cc Honda Phantom off a member who has not been on Udonmap for nearly a year, so not sure if still in the business, or in the country, but I paid 3000baht a week for hireage, and a 5000baht bond..so Big Cycle prices sort of equate to this in the increase in size..if I rented out 1000cc bike in a country where there are lots of motorbike accidents and bikes stolen, I would want 20,000baht or more as a bond to hold if damages occur from say arsing off.

advice..take photos of the bike you hire, in front of the person who is leasing it out, even make out you are a mad tourist wanting a snapshot with the owner and the bike, as a keep sake. then if on return problems arise you have proof of the bikes condition upon hireage. ( it had that scratch, or that bolt missing, or that dent ) check it over before you sign for it, and point out any flaws...Also ask for the rental contract to be written in english, so you know what you are signing and contracted for..I had no problems from the person I hired off, but there are jetski scams, so I guess there are motorbike scams around somewhere...Big Cycle is the harley shop out on the Ring road I think..flash big shop, but I have not had any dealing with them sorry..you can only cover your bases and take the plunge with any rental crowd here or abroad...Ruysuk , a sponsor here, apparently hires bikes, not sure what size..

check at udoncarrent website , search by google then you will find their cheap motorbike for rent.
