I will post this trip report here so you can see what is avilable for trip planning on gtriders, this is typical and you can find detailed trips plans. I don't want to be hogging the forum, so in the future I will post these kind of things there. If you enjoy riding you can find great rides there with detailed information.
I will try to post some up coming rides here, but so far doesn't seem to be much interest, so I won't push it.
Udon Thani Loie Loop river run
We got underway about 0945 From Udon there were three riders and my lovely wife made four. On Guy An American and avid rider Tung Dee ( Gold is Good) A guy I met fro the first time Sabo, not sure where he from but one heck of a nice guy, normally rides with Udon Super Bikes and he sure had one 900CC CBR. Me on my ancient 750 Yamaha. .I knew I was going to be looking at some tail lights, the norm for me. Tung Dee rides a phantom 15o and mean rides at last count he had 16 bikes most of them Phantom 150
Udon Loie loop Via the river
I did the reverse trip once as well, but spent the night in Sii Chaing Mai, that takes a hour or moreoff the trip back to Udon. I too would like to take at least a day to drive along the river and get a better feel of the area. Then perhaps a day or two in Loie, still haven't made to the wineries.
This is one car or motorcycle is worth the effort.
I will be exploring that area again one of these days. I'll remember to contact you as to guest houses.

when i stayed there, with the ex, so it was a while ago, maybe 3 yrs. didn't really know where i was or where i was staying as end of a long day. noticed small sign 'tim's gh', only reason i remembered, plus it was the first time i stayed in 'basic' gh accomodations w/shared facilities. i thought entertaining since it is the standard for many a backpacker. definitely a cheap way to go. now, got large placard type of sign on river side, so hard to miss, even if not looking for, and a couple a gents were looking rather relaxed w/beer out front. never met tim, chickie took care of everything. luckily, i think we were the only one's there, as it was one of those worst off moments in a relationship we had, loud arguement. actually heard some yell something in thai at us from next door i think, like 'shut the f--k up a-hole and go to sleep', almost funny if it wasn't me.
but i notice they always have info on travelfish and other site like VT. links below:
