Khon Khaen 12th Semi Marathon 25th January 2105

There were over 7,000 runners taking part in the races,apparently. :shock:
All the races (marathon,half marathon and 11.55km mini marathon) were dominated by Kenyans and Ethiopians who got the top 5 places in all.
The only exceptions were in the womens 11.55km race which was won by a young lady from Laos,who is resident in Udon and trains around Nong Prajak from time to time.She pocketed 15,000 baht for her win,so congrats to her ! =D>
Ethiopians got 2nd and 3rd and then two Thai girls got 4th and 5th.
Mens marathon winner won 100,000 baht,womens marathon winner won 50,000 baht.
Mens half marathon winner won 50,000 baht,womens half marathon winner won 35,000 baht.
Mens mini marathon winner won 20,000 baht,womens mini marathon winner won 15,000 baht.

I did the 11.55km mini marathon.There were 2,000 plus in the race,I believe.I made a big error at the start sauntering up with about 10 minutes to go only to find I was about two thirds of the way down the field and a long way from the starting line.
You have to check in your number and also the microchip in your shoe before you are allowed to line up.Those who have done the race before knew the format and were lining up 30 minutes before the start.
I tried to manoeuvre myself into a better starting position but it was impossible as it was a sea of people.
Of course,this bad start meant that I was unable to mix it with those damned Africans on this occassion ! :^o
But I'll be better prepared next year and 20 minutes isnt much to make up is it ? :yikes:

Quite a few farangs doing the races so something for you to consider next year,pomps ? =;
Just when I thought our chance had passed,you go and save the best for last.
