This season Udon are were /are simply not good enuff or prepared enuff for the league above ... the club needs serious investment and general development instead of the current back slappers and prima donnas here with no heart ,,

Udon Thani FC - The 2013-season
I tuned hopefully into the excellent coverage on SMMTV and turned off, at the end, very frustrated. Udon had once again lost to a team that, in my opinion, weren’t any better.
At least they scored early on after excellent work by Pouya, who held off Po’s Incredible Hulk centre back before setting up a teammate for a tap in. Udon’s ‘keeper was a little unlucky in that a Po’ shot came off the crossbar onto his back and in. A deflected shot second half by Udon came straight down from bar to goal line. I, too, couldn’t see anything wrong with Po’s disallowed goal. So perhaps some justice with Po’s second half winner – credit to the scorer for a pinpoint shot from a fairly acute angle, but question marks against the Udon ‘keeper who was totally stranded. His distribution gave me concern a couple of times too, when he threw the ball to Udon players already marked.
The ground seemed in a nice setting. Not too many Udon fans bothered with this trip, it appears. Was that you Polleke, jumping about and with a hand on the large Udon flag after the goal?
The referee ‘lost it’ a couple of times, booking an Udon player still on the bench and Pouya for complaining about his own treatment. Pouya had been flattened several times by, I think, the Po captain, but it wasn’t until the second half that the latter actually got a yellow. How I wish there was some initiative by those in charge of Thai referees to ensure opposition players withdraw the 9.? meters from free kicks, failure to do so resulting in a yellow card.
My other observation is where was Omogba? An unused sub last week, if I recall and didn’t spot him at all this time.
But perhaps I’m taking this all too seriously? Do I need to brighten up? Should I follow the example of many, have a drink beforehand or during, be all ready to party irrespectively. I’d have to learn that dance where they move left and right with intermittent bowing. Maybe that’s the secret as nobody worries what’s happening on the pitch, because they have their backs to it!

Come on, Polleke, you really must keep up! Referred to in one of my previous posts, the market people are a family having a stall at the Saturday Phen market. I’m told they travel everywhere following Udon (and for other events), but I didn’t spot them on this occasion.Polleke wrote:In the mean time we'll be joining 'the market people' (whatever that may mean, Brian) .........

Good post, Brian! =D>
Don`t know about Omogba, but looking at posts different places on Facebook, it looks like there are some "internal stuff" going on. Haven`t had time or feelings to figure it out.
I think there`s a big game on Sunday, but don`t look that way on UDFC`s FB-page. Only 2 posts in 4 days this week, both links from other websites. There`s been no excitement at all from the club on FB about Champions League, and I don`t understand why. Looks to me as the season ended for them after the last game in the league.
UDFC might say something about Sunday`s game at a later date, but it`s live on SMMTV again, so we can watch it from home if the club don`t "invite" us.

Looks like UDFC has got a new chairman who is a Pheu Thai MP!

As usual, with the language problem, I'm battling to understand what's going on at the Club. I saw this guy's photo posted and someone suggested humourously the Club's financial problems were over. But perhaps I should avoid talking about politicians and money?
So we might end up like Buriram! Not actually sure I'd like that very much. Club colours changed to red?
I wish ALL politicians (not sure there's any good ones, particularly in Thailand) would keep out of sport.

Yes, Brian, I think we should keep all our thoughts about politicians and money away from thais, but here should be safe.
I don`t know all politicians involved with footballclubs in Thailand, but I don`t think they are there for the sake of the clubs, but to promote themselves. The most famous of them, Newin, has made Buriram the best team in the country, but it is/was to promote himself and his party, specially when he started the club. He bought fans to the club, and he bought voters for elections.
I hope to see UDFC getting promoted at some point, but not if the club is widely connected to politicians and/or political parties. And specially not when it`s Pheu Thai and red shirts...
Not a lot said by UDFC yet about this week`s game, or anything else, but I think we got "invited" to the game on FB a few hours ago...
"วันอาทิตย์นี้ ยักษ์เปิดบ้านรับเชียงใหม่ หกโมงเย็น...ขอ 3 คำ ให้ยักษ์แสดหน่อยเร้ววว" (in 5 days this is all they have said).
EDIT: A couple of minutes ago, they posted this...

Udon Thani FC - The 2013-season
Result today:
Ang Thong 1-1 Sukhothai
UDFC needed Ang Thong not to win today and got lucky with Sukhothai`s goal deep into injury time. UDFC will be only 2 points behind Ang Thong in 2nd place with a win tomorrow. It won`t be easy, but they have won the first 2 homegames, so let`s hope for a third...

A very good game from UDFC yesterday, specially the 2nd half. They deserved the win against groupleaders Chiang Mai, who fielded a "weakened" side, according to their twitter account. UDFC was without No 20 Pouya, so they can say they also fielded a "weakened" side.
UDFC now has an awaygame at Nakhon Nayok this week, before finishing the champions league with homegames against Ang Thong and Sukhothai. I think that if they get at least a point at Nakhon Nayok and win the 2 homgames, they will get promotion. I can`t wait for the next game...
Also it was nice to meet other forum members, Brian Davis and tkvicksson, at the game yesterday.
I also noticed a couple farangs I haven`t seen before. Good to see more of us attending games...

Udon Thani FC - The 2013-season
Nice to meet you briefly in person at Sunday's game Svein after all this time, before I rushed off to claim a prized orange seat.
It should really have been a full house, but I guess Loy Krathong kept some fans away. But great entertainment and even allowing for my bias, thought Udon deserved it with a gutsy, quality effort to keep the promotion hopes alive. Both teams started lively and the speed of the Chiang Mai forwards gave me concern, although Udon got to grips with that as the game continued. If the Chiang Mai foreign element were quick, Udon's African element showed great skill, control, running/dribbling. Surely the latter are capable of playing at a higher lever - but with Udon? - because I'm sure other clubs have noticed.
But a word for Udon's no 34, who had a busy game, often running at the Chiang Mai defence with clever dribbling and at pace.
My kind of game. Coming back from a goal down, taking the lead, then a near pants-wetting exercise towards the end.(Used to that watching in England, when so often it seemed the opposition would score an undeserved winner or equalizer with the last kick of the game!). Udon had a large slice of luck when a miscued clearance bounced off the top of the bar, but then the referee came in for a large amount of abuse when denying a penalty claim when Omogba?(glad to see him there) appeared to be pushed over when in with a great chance of scoring. If the Udon crowd is not angry enough to encourage the ref to award penalties, perhaps we should 'phone Sir Fergie for advice?
If Chiang Mai have the squad large enough to field a weakened side(or think they've won it already), then they came unstuck.
I wish Udon already had another win in the bag as we move to the last three games. Surely they must go for a win at Nakhon Nayok?
I've been told by another fan that Udon's No 18 'keeper has left the Club. So I wasn't actually mistaken in thinking he had appeared most games for Udon and IMO was a quality keeper (I'll never forget a couple of great saves away at Buriram). So now it's No 25, being 'caught out' badly with that second goal away at Paknampho.
The Vice President of the Club (Pornsak Saksucharit) was 'circulating' and came over to talk to me before the game. I imagine he's the guy who wrote that article on the intentions for the future for Udon FC.He's the Managing Director of Udon Master Media Plus, responsible for the large screen at games - speaks excellent English and seems to be in the right role as a communicator. On the away defeats, he offered that the referees had been poor (can't say I necessarily agree with that from what I saw on tv, except for Pouya getting kicked about last week, although his injury was accidental, I think) and he was particularly unhappy with the Ang Thong game. He said other teams had been able to bring in new players. He explained there was a great deal to do at the Club in terms of organization and structure. He seemed to imply there was no great significance in the change of President. The new guy, besides his political ambitions, was already a member of the board and the Vice President suggested it was necessary to move things around on occasions. I said I noticed that Nong Khai had a smart-looking shop (at the OTOP place as you go into the town). He replied Udon had the ok for some sort of outlet in a shopping centre, but I think he meant there might be problems in staffing it, or perhaps enough merchandise? He was honest to say there were some things he couldn't divulge. I hope I'm repeating what he told me accurately. I'm apprehensive in saying this when ordinary fans are craving promotion, but the VP suggested there was so very much to be done at the Club, that it wasn't ready for promotion. Next year possibly and "be patient" he told me.
Anyway, thought I'd help out the Chairman of Crystal Palace, who's getting nowhere trying to find someone willing to grasp the nettle of becoming the Manager there, of a Club that was promoted too early. Anyone available? Fans have the fear they'll bring back Iain Dowie, who had some success, but also was proved to have pooped on the Club once already.

One might easily get distracted from the football, although Udon FC has plenty of pretty fans itself.
Off topic, but the new Palace manager still seems 'up in the air' as I write. Apparently (and it is newspaper talk) Pulis back in the frame, now Palace offering more dosh. He never seemed very keen from the start and if it's all about money, then personally I'd rather not, particularly if it meant playing the (previous) Stoke style. Let's start practicing long throws?

Udon Thani FC - The 2013-season
Today is matchday 44 for UDFC this season. They started the season in the league cup 42 weeks ago yesterday, so it`s been a busy year for them.
If UDFC win the 3 remaining games, they are certain of at least 3rd place in the group. Only Chiang Mai and Paknampho can then be above them. If Paknampho drop any points while UDFC win, UDFC wil be 2nd on head-to-head (2-0 & 1-2).
Well, still a long way to go, but also a point today will give them a good chance of promotion and make next weekend`s homegame a massive one.
The UDFC-game is not on tv today, so sadly we have to go back to the poor feeds on internet. Here`s the link again:

Chiang Mai vs Ang Thong is live on SMMTV today at 6pm.
In the other group Roi Et United got promoted yesterday and Phitsanulok TSY will be promoted if they win today, so not much excitement left in that group.

Udon startet good and also hit the bar, but then NN scored twice in a few minutes. I lost my feed after the first goal, and my hope of promotion is also lost...
