Golf For Kids

Hi All,

Was looking for a sport for a 7 year old girl to play. Maybe golf will do her. Not to much running around in the heat.
Contacted Danny Harris from the Isaan golf academy but unfortunately he has returned to the UK.

Just some lessons at a golf range would be a start to see if she likes it, if there is a group to meet frineds even better.
Any parents out there to offer suggestions who may have gone down the road looking for kids sport activities?

Barney, I've seen a Thai gentleman teaching youngsters at the Wing 23 driving range on Sat and Sun. I do not know his name nor contact info but you might ask the lady who runs the driving range. I'm sure she can help.

I played Wing 23 yesterday and asked various people about group lessons for kids there. I also went there on Sunday and both me and my daughter who speaks Thai asked about 4 caddies who seemed to have no knowledge (of the Golf instruction that is) despite one saying yes "9 am on a Saturday" and another saying "yes 5 pm on a Saturday.

Not having a definitive answer yesterday I asked the Lady at the driving range - she had no idea about any classes/instruction.

I asked the guy at the first tee shop who speaks reasonable English and he never knew of any instruction.

Try at the driving range (Mahkeng [spelling] The turn off on your right before the airport after leaving the ring road). There was a junior coaching system in place there before with instructors (farang and thai) available for individual lessons.

Ask any of the staff for info, last time I was there they had an office between the entrance and the indoor putting green on the right hand side.

Sadly this has been shut for a few months now. Anyone have any other ideas as to where I can get lessons for my Junior?

I have been informed (don't know how reliable my source is) that the Golf shop at Wattana Nuwong Road near the junction with Adulyadet Road has an employee there who does Golf instruction. You must be psychic, I tried to ring you this morning to see if we can catch up, but no answer. Was looking at junior clubs at central yesterday.
Will have to get me another Udon Map Map for reference as have recently found out the copy I had was not waterproof.

The shop is called Sprotsmaximize - there was only one bloke and one female there yesterday but I've been before and there were staff who spoke reasonable English, but if your kid is like mine - very good for translation

Currently a huge discount on the kids Dunlop set outside the shop - down to 1,990 baht as well as some good deals on adult clubs and equipment.

3,000 baht for 10 x one hour lessons.

Thanks Socksy. Went in today and got a set of clubs for the youngen. She was surprised and happy on returning from school.

A couple dozen of those hollow plastic practice balls might be just the thing for her to practice by herself. They don't go far so are easy to collect and an errant ball won't do any damage. Perhaps she can encourage one of her young playmates to share her interest in golf, making play and practice more fun and less work.

The plastic one's can be bought at the Golf shop opposite the entrance to the air force base in Tahan Road as well as a good selection of other equipment some of which is second hand (sets and shoes)
