Khon Kaen Marathon

There is still time to sign up for the KK marathon, Sunday January 26. The deadline is January 20. There are four races: marathon, half marathon, mini marathon, walk-fun run.

You can actually enter in person up to the 25th January from 10am to 6pm at the Golden Jubilee Convention Hall at Khon Kaen University.
Costs are....
Marathon,up to 23rd January 60$.....24th/25th January 75$
Half Marathon,up to 23rd January 50$....24th/25th January 60$
Mini Marathon (11.3km),up to 23rd January 40$....24th/25th January 50$
Walk and Fun Run,up to 23rd January 10$.....24th/25th January 10$

If I can stay fit I quite fancy doing the Mini Marathon next year in conjunction with a weekend away at either the Pullman or Centara.

Another good race is the Laguna Phuket road races to be held on 8th June.....Marathon,Half Marathon,Quarter Marathon and 5k Walk/Fun Run.

11.3 km is a strange distance to run, you would have thought they'd have organised a 10 km. Have you ever heard of a 11.3 race before, Khun Zidane?

Well,in the UK,they have races of various distances ......4 miles,5 miles,10k,7 miles,8 miles,10 miles,Half Marathon etc. but in Thailand they are normally all the same distance....Marathon,Half Marathon,Quarter Marathon (10.5k) and 5k,usually a fun run.
So,yes,11.3k is definitely a strange distance for Thailand.Maybe its to do with the route taking in the scenic beauty of Khon Kaen ?

Incidentally,I learned a couple of days ago that this Sunday(19th Jan) is the UDON THANI MARATHON,QUARTER MARATHON AND 5K FUN RUN starting from Nong Prajak.
I have no other details except that you can register this Saturday at Nong Prajak between 10am and 6pm.I would think the Marathon start is around 4.30am,the 10.5k at 6am and the 5k at 6.15am.But best to check with the organisers at Nong Prajak on Saturday if you are in earnest about taking part,Earnest !

You see, yet again, they set 10.5 km and not a 10. Will that be an early morning race, i.e. before dawn? Are you going to race, Khun Zidane?

Yeah,but over here they call it a Quarter Marathon which is 10.5km.It will be early morning,probably around 6am with the Marathon starting at around 4.30am.
Not made my mind up wether or not to run.I've not trained for it and 10.5km is a long way when your max is usually 6.4km.
I've entered the Phuket Quarter Marathon in June which gives me a few months to get into shape.
I might just do the Udon race as a training run.....all depends if I can stay off the beer on Saturday !
