Re: Golf Society's
Welcome Cliff...! You can see where the golf is at by clicking on the activities section: http://www.udonmap.com/Udon_Thani_Activities
Maybe a few golfers on here will go for a match or em game with you. I don't play myself as it is too hard to find a left-handed racket...
A good walk ruined and all that.
Good luck.

P.S. Ok belongs in the jokes section but here goes...
On a golf tour in Ireland, Tiger Woods drives his BMW into a petrol station in a remote part of the Irish countryside. The pump attendant obviously knows nothing about golf, greeting him in a typical Irish manner completely unaware of the identity of the golfing pro. "Top of the mornin' to yer, sir," says the attendant. Tiger nods a quick "hello" and bends forward to pick up the nozzle. As he does so, two tees fall out of his shirt pocket onto the ground. "What are those?" asks the attendant. "They're called tees," replies Tiger. "Well, what on the good earth are they for?" inquires the Irishman. "They're for resting my balls on when I'm driving," says Tiger. "Jaysus," says the Irishman, "BMW tinks of everything!"

I think that the golf societies have kind of died out. Haven't seen much new about them lately. Since I don't chase a little ball around, I don't pay all that much attention.
The City Lodge used to have a bunch of pictures up from one of the golf outings - don't know if it is still up since it is under new management and seems to be drawing in primarily Thais rather than falangs.
The Irish Clock has something posted about golf on its bulletin board.
I believe at one time Harry at Harry's Bar (advertiser on this forum) used to be involved in a golf society. Perhaps an e-mail to him would provide you with some contact information.

See this page for club driving ranges http://www.udonmap.com/Udon_Thani_Activities
There is also a driving range near Big C (Map ref V19) on a small soi leading off Phosi Road. Turn left at the Dutch Mill Shop if coming from Big C.

Ralph there seems to be a few for sale on the classifieds section of Thai visa. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showforum=8
If you type golf clubs into the search box you get some results:
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php ... golf+clubs
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php ... golf+clubs

Not sure where these clubs are (one in Chiang Mai) but if they are a long distance from you maybe the vendor could send by TNT.

Hi All,
I will be traveling to Udon November 30 and staying 3 nights. I have a couple of questions.
1. Has anyone flown NOK Airlines from BKK to Udon? Can you take your clubs or do they have weight restrictions like Asia Air?
2. I would like to get at least 9 holes in while I'm there. I'm traveling alone, so if there is anyone who would like to golf, send me a message. I know I know, it's a long way off, but I like to plan ahead.
Thanks, maybe see some of you folks when I'm there.
Kevin
