Fishing

Post by sgt » September 19, 2024, 3:52 pm

I've just returned from an extended stay stateside in Minneapolis VA Hospital. Many things have changed in the actually short time, seemed like an eternity, was close to it. What fishing ponds are still open? Any recommendations?

If in Udon Thani province and you dont mind paying a little over the norm. Lek's Fishing Park seems to tick all the serious fishermen's boxes.

Thanks. Just not my type. I need to find a place I can take my son, Lek isn't it. Right now, I'm just looking for a place to sit, catch a few maybe feed the family and relax. I know the best place shut down some years back due to ah marital problems. There is a or was a place with big cats I believe on the way to Kut Chap, might be wrong about the road. It's been several years since I've been there, not sure I could even find it, although it wasn't hard to find.

Was it Sabai Sabai? It's been so long ago I can' be sure of my memory. I was still married then and I've been through 2 vehicles since and am on the 3rd...lol. Owner worked in Africa I believe. My ex couldn't believe I could/would catch catfish on liver and shrimp. Had several species of fish. Anyway, long gone now.

Fishing parks are fun, BUT, when I catch a good sized fish, I want to take it home and cook it.

This is also Mrs tam's fishing philosophy.

We go to V.S. fishing park in Nong Khai. They've tidied it up now with a nice place to sit fishing. Also you can get food and a drink at thiere restaurant.
Last time we were there we caught about 12 nice sized Planine to take home. 50 bath a rod and l think it was 65 bath per kilo for the take home catch.

Thanks, I'll be back in Nong Khai after the clean up. VS has long been a place to go, went down hill and last I was there, fishing was a minor part of the place. Emphasis on the restaurant.

Paul put a load of money into stalking Sabai Sabai fishing park. I saw many loads of fish being put in his lake.
Sad day when it closed.

Very, very true. A lot of time, research, effort, money etc. went into what was the best around. A sad day for everybody when it closed. Nothing to compare since and it appears there never will be.
