Developments in Nong Khai - e.g. shopping malls etc

Post by arjay » March 10, 2008, 10:52 pm

Does anyone know of any proposed new developments in Nong Khai, such as new shopping malls or entertainment complexes etc?

I am conscious that currently there is only really the Tesco complex and most nightlife closes around 10pm. How do you see the town developing over the next 5 years or so?

Plenty of new restaurants and car/bike dealers under construction, but didn't see any new shopping areas. The Tesco Lotus isn't bad though.

most nightlife closes around 10pm.
`
Thai lao, Hollywoods, Nongs, Butterfly and many other places! usually nightlife starts at 10 pm in Nong Khai!

Anyway, with Udon 20 minutes away, just down the road with its abundance of nearly empty farang bars, who needs more?

Udon is OK, but Nong Khai is a beautiful town and doesnt need (or I suspect want) another "soi farang" complete with the problems associated with that type of entertainment complex!

well done pops, did you mention theyve also got a sort of beach 6 months of the year ? now all we need is the thais to build an airport there, and it could become the party capital of the isaan region. we will also need a snappy name, how about MONG KHAI.

It's actually nicknamed Nong Die due to the Grim Reaper's heavy presence. Die of old age or die of boredom. Best stay away.

Sorry but I love Nongkai, would gladly live there if not for the wife wanting to be within 3 meters of the family. I dont care what Stan said in a previous post, Nondkai has a lot of potential for the future, and I do mean Tourism not just for Thai and Lao, but for many more Falang who will grace this part of the World when the infrustructure gets better. Trust me, this is a good place to invest. Soory Guys :D

Jealous? Jealous of what? The foods crap, the bars are dead, there's no night life of any kind, Lotus sells old Udon Lotus stock, the police hassle you all the time, the traffic is unbearable. Need I go on?

Give me Pattaya any day. Wouldn't catch me anywhere Nong Khai even if you paid me.

:D
