I have been to Irish Clock, when it first opened. The Irish Clock had set new standards that are high in quality food, great service, and beautiful/comfortable rooms. Steve and Mali have done a great job in keeping the place looking clean and beautiful. Their friendliness and their concerns for the customers comfort has made it the place to stay when in Udon Thani.

Errrrrr.... Just in case there was any misunderstanding... The bit about the menus was a joke. Just to clear things up I too rate the Irish Clock as the best there is... I haven't tried EVERY eatery just yet but quality of food and service is excellent.
Also the term Sassnach is NOT a derogatory term it simply means Englishman. Hope this clears things up.

The irish clock is the place for me ,its somewhere you can relax enjoy good food, have a few drinks and a chat without the usual hassles of someplaces. Steve and marly are great hosts and i consider them as friends ,as thats how they make you feel. Im back in town in october til feb with the wife and the irish clock will be my number one local

I stayed there last week and NO trace of smoke smell. Great accommodation and friendly staff. Grub wasn't bad either. Of course, the pub is right next store to the new Day & Night Entertainment Center, so ALL needs are now catered for!BKKSTAN wrote: Glad to hear about the beds doc, thanks! If I am in Udon and decide to stay the night ,I will check out the Irish Clock.I like the host and hostess, great service!
I don't want to make this another smoking issue post, but I hope the rooms don't smell of smoke.Does the smoke from the bar filter into the rooms? If no smoke, great beds and a strong hot shower, they will have my business!

Some might argue that the Day & Night Entertainment Center ADDS to the attraction of the street...!!!happyinthai wrote:Agreed,
But it is still in one of the worst places in Udon, down a dirty smelly road haunted by whoremongers, in the evening. The new red light district is but a stagger away ...........
Which is a shame.........., given the obvious investment in the place. And the food is excellent, the breakfast is superb if you want the full monty.

Ive been in there for a massage on many occasions and since its a husband and wife team i think your barking up the wrong tree. But the wife also runs the bar across that small lane next to the massage shopjackspratt wrote:Hmm!
Given the difference in price from a Thai massage - 150 - to an oil massage - 400, I would have thought this indicated an upscaling of service.
Does this story have a happy ending?

Yeah, I'll make my own decision about the Irish Clock in November. Not really worried what people think of me should I walk down a street full of ***** mongers either. Besides, I quite like Paddys and Scousers....yorkman wrote:Go yee to Nongkai. Eat the same quality for half the price. And it is not owned by Scouse bouncers! Nor down a dirty street in Udon where you would not want to be seen ( if you want Thai respect)
The food is good, agreed, but you can do so much better

They just enjoy denigrating someone elses efforts at running a good, tidy and excellent value pub.
