Yeah they have Udon and Chiang Mai listed as a future destinations. Wonder what happened? Cost cutting I guess.

Before the MIddle East incident where the fuel was seen spilling out of the wing tanks which upset a few passengers, a friend of mine flew with Phuket Air that same route BKK to LGW and was kept on board the aircraft for the re-fuelling to take place on the tarmac in the UAE for somewhere between 4 and 6 hours.

re: increase its fare for foreigners
Thai Airways plans to increase its fare for foreigners on the Chiang Mai-Mae Hong Son route to coax more competitors into flying the route.
The price for foreigners will be raised from Bt1,070 per trip to Bt1,500 in October.

I am having trouble in seeing the logic on that one ! Increase the fare to encourage other airlines to fly the route ?
As for dual pricing by the Thai National Airline - I think that it is outrageous. A 'bum on a seat' is a fare no matter what nationality and if this starts with one route - how long before it spreads - it sucks !

Ah - that would be the MP's who, not only get to fly free on Thai airways domestic routes (to enable them to visit their constituencies apparently) and have kept the odd concession of being able to claim Thai air miles whenever they fly (even though its a free flight), not only that , they have asked that they be accomodated in Business class too (for free of course) and naturally increased free airmiles too, and, not only that they have put in a request that they be allowed to fly on international flights for free too (natuarally in business class with free air miles too).
I heard that if an MP gets put on the board of Thai Airways he will not be too upset as no matter how long he is on the board, it entitles him to free first class air travel for life for him(or her) and his family.
One excuse I heard for the dual pricing idea is that the fares are going up for all passengers but will be discounted for Thai customers.
I think they should be told what they can do with their discrimination and disregard.
