Threats of violence

Post by mortiboy » August 16, 2008, 12:22 am

This Forum covers a vast range of subjects. It is all about opening your beliefs, your worries, Your thoughts and your opinions.
We farangs(well most of us,)are in a different environment than back home so we have all sorts of things in life not the same as living our own country.
So this forum to me is an outlet. You can sometimes give advise, sometimes ask advise.
You can learn a lot from peoples thoughts and opinions.
So why do we have to have this feedback in a violent manner.
many occasions I have seen threatening words of physical violence!example:'wipe his face off"" punch his lights out" deck him" ect.
Just because someone gives their opinion!Providing no swearing or crude words are said, why cant people accept their answer?
also there is a lot of insults thrown about. Jokes & taking a ride of people I can understand. But some comments are really downright rude and offensive.I dont have any hang ups,but many do!.....controling their emotions.
Any response here is welcome. just in a polite manner please

It goes back to me saying (weeks ago) that some people take things a little too seriously on this Forum. I've been called names but I've never been threatened with violence, and it doesn't really bother me anyway.

You haven't been threatened have you, Morti? Admin and Mods should be able to deal with that.

That is sad if someone feels the need to threaten another on the Forum.

Right, I've just seen what you're talking about on the Sin Sod thread.

I see what you mean, yes, somewhat out of order. ;)

I reckon the same age as me - 41.

But you shouldn't laugh at the old folks - they've had a bad day.

But Morti does have a point....

Hey walking sticks hurt to. I'm retired I'm not getting up that early, pissing me off can wait till at least 1100 hours.

Hey you know what when I start getting insulting to people on here, usually means I have spent to much time on forums and not living a life enough. I go for a bike ride works for me.

And might I add that recently the forum at times has turned into some sort of chatroom with quirky one-liners and idle chit chat between two members which quite frankly to the majority is downright boring.
There is a time and a place for everything and certain members on here seem hell bent on adding their own chirpy little tit-bit to almost every single post on the forum.
Chatrooms are elsewhere.

Moderators have to read through most, if not all the posts on this forum to keep it clean and within forum guidelines - and at times some of the stuff posted is just downright nonsence.

Not singling out anyone in particular - everyone knows whom I refer to.

No have not been threatened because I am careful in what I say.On reflection, I wonder If people get out of hand on the boozing.
I get through half a bottle of scotch sometimes. But I just get happy.Drink effects some people. They can get quite nasty.Maybe thats the answer!
Sitting behind the monitor, getting wound up?so easy! you can say what you like!
I used to work in and around East end London.Threatening behaviour was rife.Usually a bigger person than the victim!Other way around,AHH! different story! :fryingpan: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://

What's interesting about the forum,it keeps growing in membership and interest through all these complaints!I wonder why that is?

I plead guilty yes I have made threats and some times I was out of bounds but I am no keyboard & monitor tough guy if I say here I will say it in person. that the difference I will not hurt some one feeling by attacking them or there wife that a cowardly act but I will argue a point if I think I am correct. before the politic thread was deleted Stan Rico myself and few others had few wild rounds
but no one was threatened or called stupid or hurtful words like that. just think before you post about things you really know nothing about and you will not hurt any body feeling
Like I said in sin/sod thread it about my Honor and respect it not about winning or losing

morti , you slightly miss quoted me, but hey, whatever. however what i said was taken out of context, i said that if he called my wife a prostitute in my presence which would obviously of been in person and not on the forum. i stand by what i said, you may accept that sort of behavior, but i will not. as for the rest of you making assumptions, im not yet 60 and i never drink in the house or post when im under the influence !!!!!!!! but i will protect my family at all costs, as i feel would most of the members ive personally met.

I keep expecting one of these night-market meetings you guys have
to turn into a free-for-all, battle royale, open-air saloon type brawl.
Yessir, and then I'll have to read about it in the Thai newspapers
describing how retired farang mafia are causing such disturbance in
the community, with their reckless ways, eager to fight all comers.

I don't think that is going to happen, in the real world most of these guys are really nice people. Many times what is said on here if said in person would include a smile.

Why as forums grow do things like this come up. I don't know but it does seem to be the norm. Maybe it allow peope to get out pent up emotions that would never do in publc, got me.
