Here's a link to the story describing the new regulations as put forth
by the IT ministry to take effect AUG 23. Keeping records of customers,
sites visited etc.,etc., As Pop's intimated before, I don't see how they can
possibly enforce any of this? Or how anyone could even comply?

P.S. And congratulations Pop's. 1st out of 700 is pretty impressive.

Hey guys we going to have to do the NOONER some other time. We are going to Ban Na Kha tomorrow to get Urai something to wear for Thursday. My understanding from the TW is the award will be covered by television. I explained to Rito on phone, and LA is hard to get sometimes. But will have one hell of a party very soon.

LA call me

Yep, and down the street past the red light make some really tasty tom yum goong, so far the best in Udon Thani. Then I have the restaurant across the street, Rabiang Patchanee. But now we are getting off subject here.

Think the next NM get together is going to be a big one.......I will buy the first 3 Tiger towers....for what has been happening here with Pop Pop's.

As I understand it, soon Internet shops wil have to monitor and supply details of usage over the past 90 days upon request to a govt agency, businesses aned schools are also having to do the same, Any place that supplies Internet Access EXCEPT FOR HOMES, will have to keep this data. POP is this true, can you explain please.
Thanks

ํYs Guns it's true, schools, businesses, and Internet shops will have to maintain a log of customers that used that computer. The will have to provide records upon request by the government office that is responsible. Now it all not clear, but from what I have researched this is what the government agency will be looking in the records (to be maintained 90 days).

1. The customer's name and ID or Passport number.

2. which computer the customer logged onto.

3. what time the customer logged on

4. what time customer logged off the computer

5. Where on the Internet the customer went

6. what the customer upload and/or downloaded

(the above is only speculation on what they want from the businesses, schools, and Internet shops)

This will be main information they will be looking for IMO. There is big meeting for the Internet shops at Toon Koon, I suspect that the meeting is on the new law that was implemented into law last Saturday the 23th of Aug. There is software to that the businesses, schools and Internet shops can obtain that will do most of the work for them on tracking each and every computer they have. Then only thing this to be done is log the customer in, showing which computer he used, what time he logged on and logged off. The software will do the rest for you that you have on your server.

Thrilled, the US Government, CIA, FBI, State and local authorities use the same type of software except is more advanced. Advertising agencies and web page hosts have been using it for a long time. This software they use, wouldn't surprise me a bit, most likely tells them if you are wanking at the key board. Yes, I have seen this software, a friend of mine designs and maintains web pages has it. The software tells him, what OS you have, EOM number, what page you entered the website, how long were on and which web pages you went to on the website, where you went to from that website (another website or logged off), and it tells even more, like a bit more on your computer. I was amazed as some of the people visiting the websites were still using Window 3.x and using Commador 64's or 128's.

Just how many long term farangs actually have their passport with them, maybe a question here.
For those with a Thai DL will that do, other wise carrying a passport around is a fag at best.

Going to try this but not sure how it will go.

The TW, Rito and myself went to get the 3 star award. It was given to the TW on stage by the governor of Udon Thani Province. A framed certificate and large sticker for the window, were handed out. Besides Pop Pop's, there 2 other Internet shops represented. One shop was rated with 2 stars and other with one star. Rito was asked to come along and take pictures, which was a great help. We also went to where the museum is near Nong Prajak Park, the licensing office. There a lot of pictures taken, and turned out to be an enjoyable morning. The TW, Rito and I went to TJ's for lunch after everything was over, great sausage burgers, but I guess that is for another thread.

I noted somewhere that a person had is passport photcopied, I thought that a note of the number would suffice, as Thailand is still rated a passport fraud centre of Asia, can we have some clarification please.
Photocopy or just number taken. I do not trust this at all.

Pop-pop's Net and Games wrote:Well Pop Pop's Internet shop would like to announce....since we saw it posted else where on the Internet. Out of approximately 700 Internet shops in Udon Thani....Pop Pop's Net is the ONLY Internet shop in Udon Thani, that got 3 STARS. There will be celebration for this achievement, posted at a later date, unless you all want to stop by for a nooner (beer is cheap). We are now getting other Internet shop owners stopping by and trying to find out why they only got 1 or 2 stars. Urai and I are very proud of this accomplishment, and we have worked hard for the last 3 1/2 years to make it NO. 1 and keep it that way. On top of buying a new place, getting the daughter through the university, keeping the computers up and running, and visiting family in southern Thailand, it has been long and not so easy road, but we did it. Urai and I would like to thank those who trusted in us, helped us and those who believed us. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU
