SERIAL ADDICTS

Post by mortiboy » August 26, 2008, 10:06 pm

Do anybody have T/W commondeer the TV? Every evening,The missus religiously watches these TV serials.
She never misses any of them. She watches one, Then when the adverts come on switches to another serial! Then back again!
Always this screaming and hollowing! When the actress brings on the tears, She recons its self enduced! Actually could be true! Pretty clever these Thais!
I have'nt the heart to stop her look.Guess I'll have to get a small TV and watch it in my small room alone! Ah well! That's life!

OMG mortiboy....know what you going through...there was a soap going for awhile then it finally ended. Well it wasn't just the TW but here sister, and friends would stop by to watch it. Actually I was kind of getting into it for a bit, but man, can't watch a dang thing when it came on....not even news from the US.

Mortiboy, if you think that's bad, it's even worse when they are away from Thailand...here Thais can buy or loan the entire series of just about every soap ever produced. That means the missus brings home a spool of some 20-30 disks at a time and proceeds to try and watch the whole thing in one session. Several times she's sat up all night watching, and just as I'm getting up she's going to bed!

Worse, in our situation living (temporarily) in a small flat, she commandeers the TV and I'm exiled to the bedroom with the clock-radio and a book as my only escape.

How can anyone stand badly dubbed voiceovers spoken by seemingly the same imbiciles on every single imported Chinese or Korean series? Why the heck don't they use subtitles? Then, some, if not all the of the soapies the wife has loaned or bought employ 'Looney Tunes' sound effects in what is supposedly a drama ... WTF? The worst part however is the corny soundtrack/music - repeated over and over and over again! Aaaaaarrrrgggghhh!!!!! :yikes: ](*,)

Ever try to get served in an english pub when the soaps are on and the bartender is a female. I believe soaps and females is the same any where in the world(even some men)

I set up a satellite TV system for the Dragon so she could watch Thai TV in UK. It works a treat in keeping her and her pals fully occupied while I surf the net, go for a run or do a spot of Kung Fu. Thank the Lord for Thai Global Network on Hotbird. [-o<

Do you think it is possible women get addicted to the soaps because it is more interesting and exciting then their own lives?

My T/W who is living with me in OZ, downloads all the Thai Serials from You Tube.

I had to raise my download limit to 25gb to make it usable.

But i agree with you Tony Croweater, the music/sound effects and the girls wailing and cry drive me nuts.

The camera work and acting is absolutely crap.

BTW Tony, I also am a croweater.

My wife doesn't watch the soaps. She says living with me is a soap opera. Wonder what she means by that?

My wife is addicted to the soaps. She says that life with me is so ideal and perfect that she's curious to find out how people with troubled lives even survive. :^o

We had Home Cable installed in our bedroom when we moved in and that was a huge mistake. Now it's nothing but the wailing and the gnashing of teeth until almost midnight everyday. Even the neighbors are complaining about my wails and gnashes now. :(

Like BKKStan, my wife doesn't seem to care if a Thai Serial is on or not. When she takes time to watch TV she usually prefers to watch something in English so she can 'practice'... therefore she watches what I like.

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. GF happy,(or not, she hasn't said) to watch film or even sport with me. She does have favourite golfers who are normally young and good looking who she refers to as "her boyfriend".

Mrs Croweater has just spent the weekend viewing another Channel 3 classic on DVD - every time I looked (having emerged from exile periodically) the same four characters (including the usual annoying katoey/doot) were involved in some kind of argument or fight with accompanying wailing and tears.

Despite having to get up at 4.15 this morning for work, Mrs Croweater didn't get to bed until 1.00 AM, meaning one tired and grumpy girl arriving home tonight. :-s
