Of course you can buy one locally. I suggest you'd better to see all product in Complex, the 3rd floor next to Tops supermarket.

I brought one from Holland because I never saw one here. Maybe they are in Bkk, I didn't look there.

Mine is a 600 gram one, not too big to take it as handluggage. And the 600 gram is just good for mee, I can finish it of it before it gets moulded, but have to put it in the fridge.

I expect you don't live close to Udon, because there (and in Nongkhai) is good bread available...

Good bread, to me is wholemeal bread. It is sold here but Not too much wholemeal is added.I have yet to see granary bread sold here.Full of grain and so good for you too.
Those french loaves are really tasty, but once they go soft not good to eat.
I just love those big french loaf sandwiches they make over in Lao.filled with all kinds of pork and stuff
Big C sell french loaves but need to be eaten in one day, otherwise get chewy,Can be heated up in the oven again, but not the same.

surprised LA did not have one
Well spotted. In the states I had one, and I may be so bold, damn I made some good bread. Garlic and oregano, little cheese, yummy. Just toast and add butter, pre-made garlic bread. It made pizza dough and soft pretzel dough also. some fruit or veggie bread, yummy

Started making my own pizzas here, since all the rest, well, suck. Except, results were not consistent, sadly, the yeast and flour, only all-purpose and bread available, weren’t consistent either, hence the results. Apparently not many local bake their own, not too much of a surprise, so flour and yeast, if not already outdated/expired, if even having dates on package (flour), would soon be before I used it. So I stopped. Making pizzas here is an expensive endeavor as the ingredients, cheese and even doctored up spaghetti sauce is a bit high end as opposed to the states. No wonder no pizza makers load up on cheese and toppings here. Where as in the states, pizza and sandwich shops are just about on every corner, well, in Philly anyway, as it is a big profit margin business.

When in between career jobs, stop laughing, so many careers, I used to fall back on bakery jobs, had 3 of them. Good since they are 3rd shift and can look for career job  during the day, as bakery jobs don’t pay much in comparison. I never got tired of burning my mouth in the morning with the sticky buns, butter cakes and cake donuts, yummy. As opposed to a long term on/off relationship friend, seems we always hung out together in between real relationships, who ran a pizza/sandwich shop, couldn’t eat her wares, as she was tired of them. So I used to pimp myself off for a good pizza or sandwich late at night when she got done working. Prostitution at it’s lowest level, damn I was cheap  . Life was good in Philly.

Back on topic, miss my bread maker, and my pizza maker, at times. Though life is good here, even without the bread maker. :D :D :D

Has anyone found consistent flour or yeast supply, more flour, as the yeast usually lasted, though not sure if heat from storage affect the results.

Morti TANG NGEE SOON SUPERSTORE do have it, sometimes. In quite small packs (only about 6 thick slices) but full of seeds. Best bread I have tried in Udon.

I've never seen a bread maker for sale in any of the major shops, but I haven't really looked. I would be surprised if they were not for sale in BKK. Tops has a pretty good selection of different types of flour (far better than Big C), not sure about yeast though.

obviously you don't need a bread maker to make your own bread, though that one button process sure does make it easy, and eliminates needing a proper oven. i used to make my pizzas here in a countertop convection oven, turned out good, except for above problems. since i came from Philly, and made all my bread from scatch and by hand, then memphis with bread maker, nice change, but point is, the heat and humidity here will require you to make some adjustments if making from scratch and without bread maker, since i'm guessing most aren't from a tropical zone. i have a slow cooker that says it will do cakes and bread, though i am a bit skeptical and haven't experimented yet, again, more for flour/yeast reason................happy baking 8)

I saw one while out looking for a coffee grinder and was very surprised it was available here, I just can't remember were I saw it. But it was definitely in one of following:

Robinson's (I think here, but not absolutely positive)
Index living Mall
Homepro

Like Papa I seem to recall seeing one in Robinson's but not 100% sure.

I have tried baking my own bread in a small countertop oven, which if you believe the instructions can do just about anything except conquer the universe, and the bread was OK as long as you ate it within half an hour or so.
Within a couple of hours it had morphed into something they would have used to defend medieval castles
Don't know why.

Hey guy's,

If anyone out there may be interested in some serious baking, here are a couple items that may interest you.

1. 10 Liter 3 Speed Heavy Duty Dough mixer, and accessories. The mixer is so heavy it takes two strong guys to pick it up

2. 7 Burner Oven - The large gas tank full of gas comes with the Oven.

I picked them up from a Falang fella that started a home bakery business about a year ago, using them only a couple times a week.
Then came the divorce, and so went his equipment and baking biz.

The Dough Mixer is in excellent condition.

I took the 7 burner Oven to our Quik-Fire factory to dress it out and added a fresh paint job for it's new owner.

Asking 12,000 for the mixer, 13,000 for the Oven.

Anyone interested may call me inside Udon, at; 087 063 8651

My best,
Doc

f it's been a while since your last meal or if you even think about something tasty, you feel hungry. You eat until you're satisfied and then go about your business. But for the next 20 hours or so, your digestive system is doing its job as the food you ate travels through your body.

Never saw a breadmaker at Robinsons.
Verasu in Bangkok has two models, google verasu, not sure they have one in stock though.
I'm off to Europe tomorrow and will buy one there, unfortunately they are heavy, can only bring one :-"

Whole wheat can be found at TOPS (australian import).
