dog poisoning
There must be a reason for the dogs to start barking at 4am no?pompui wrote:Maybe they should come round my estate and poison all the dogs so I can get a good nights sleep! When the dogs start their karaoke lessions at 4am,howling, I wish I could give them some razorblades to play with, probably howl in pain for even longer
Is it true that dog is a delicacy in sakhon nawon and restaurants pay up to 200 baht a dog.Where is the nearest dogmobile, would pay them with mangoes, still have stack to eat
I lived in PK3 for one year and they started barking around 5.30 when some people came to "explore" the trash bins. They would also bark any time in the day when someone passed by slowly or stopped on a motorbike. I think that's normal dog behavior.
There were way too many dogs in PK3, some houses having 3 and some even 5. That still is no reason to poison dogs in my book. I consider this a criminal act.
Most thais don't keep dogs as pets though and they don't treat them well.
My dog got poisonned in PK3, I guess someone referred to that tread?
I still loathe the man who did this and would like to return the favor...
I now live outside a village and have two dogs. They are a necessity because we had thieves visit our property two times in one month.
All the surrounding houses have dogs, none are a nuisance. When they bark there is a reason and we do not have karaoke dog concerts.
To the OP: someone is after you for some reason. One does not poison dogs for no reason. When my dos got poisoned I think the neighbor was targeted, he had 3 dogs barking in concert when someone passed by. Still in a closed community it raises questions, the trash bin pickers?
Revenge for the chickens sounds plausible to me.
Re: dog poisoning
I just got a call from the Village to inform us that the house Dog was poisoned last night. He was less than a year old and very freindly but would bark at night if poeple came near the house. An elderly Falang who lives a couple of doors down has high fences and gates and never lets his three large Dogs out to roam the street, all three were found dead this morning also. Where do these a/holes come from ? Now everyone has to be on high alert in case of intruders which we anticipate in the next few days. Not a nice feeling being so far away and worrying about elderly parents and two young teenage girls with filth like this on the loose. I'm considering an Electric fence !!
Re: dog poisoning
I see were back on line with the OP Dog poisoning! not about police corruption!
Has anyone seen a dog dying of poison? Not a pretty sight!
My dog was poisoned in the village some years ago.He was convulsing and foaming at the mouth.Really distressing to see.I am told, if caught in time, can be saved by forcing raw eggs into their mouth.Don'T know if that's true.
These poisoners, are absolutely void of any feeling. They are only dogs but can bring so much joy to their owners. Here, where I live,I have more respect for dogs than the neighbours.Disgusting selfish,a/holes.They would think nothing of killing a dog.If I wanted a dog "wasted"I would capture him and dump him 20 miles away!
What amazes me,everyone here has a dog or two.But the owners are never there! The dogs left all day....untrained.
So they bark at anyone passing by.These people have the dogs but too lazy to take care, and train them.
I don't agree dogs to be left out in the street. If they are left out, The Dog catcher should be able to capture them.
In the village, few years ago, there was a dog catcher. But now I think police stopped that now.
But If they end up at SAKON NAKON, I wonder how the dogs are "put down" I was told they throw them in boiling hot water! I just cant bring myself to think a human person can do that.

Re: dog poisoning
Morti I saw a documentary on that it shows them clubbing the dog over the head now I am not saying that how they do it in S/N but even tho it is a ugly & inhumane way of killing the dog it by far better than dumping them in boiling water
Re: dog poisoning
ONE THING FOR SURE,THEY DONT GET A LETHAL INJECTION1 YES ,I RECON THEY GET CLUBBED! THEN THROWN IN THE WATER.THAT WAY THE SKIN COMES OFF MORE EASY!aznyron wrote:Morti I saw a documentary on that it shows them clubbing the dog over the head now I am not saying that how they do it in S/N but even tho it is a ugly & inhumane way of killing the dog it by far better than dumping them in boiling water
Re: dog poisoning
I have one dog left nowadays and lock him with a chain near the front door at night so he can not run around the property. Possible thiefs won't get a chance to poison him.
We lock the bedroom door and I have a gun near my bed. No metal frames around the windows/door.
Anyone trying to get in at night will be shot

Re: dog poisoning
Hopefully your gun is registered to your wife and she will be the responsible party that shoots the intruder!
More than that,I hope the situation never happens where someone gets shot because many problems can arise for you from an incident!
I remember when your other dog was poisoned and shared your anger. Our little dog never leaves the inside of the house w/o us.When we are on the Rimkong for her daily runs,I worry about someone leaving poison out because of the dogspoop and the displeasure I see in the faces and gestures of business owners and others strolling on the boardwalk!
I carry toiletpaper with us and promptly pick up her daily poop, but most of the dogs that suddenly appear, poop and leave are w/o owners present and the other people that do have dogs with them let them do whatever.
Yesterday a local older man that has a small hotel near the Rimkong, had his little pekingnese with him and it was doing a poop on the walkway as we came by.I stopped offered him some T/P which he ignored as he grabbed some leaves ,picked up the droppings and threw them in a garden seemingly in a disgusted way.My feeling was that if I hadn't stopped, the droppings would still be there and he would still smile at me as we pass him and his dog at the hotel

Re: dog poisoning
We where thinking of getting a dog in December but now after reading some of the posts i am not so sure.
I am however installing an alarm with passive i r, cctv with hard drive, and security lighting. I don't like doing this but i think it is the deterrent value that i am after.
Although not having mans best friend around will be missed, i will feel a bit safer at home.

Yes, it seems very common (my outlaws have even been a victim of this) and very cowardly in my view but it's a Thai way of dealing with an issue. Where we would walk around to a neighbour and say, 'stop the bl**dy dog barking at all hours,' Thais will resort to this devious method in sorting the problem.
Val, I'm a bit surprised you lock your bedroom door and sleep with a pistol near you. Anyone would think you were living in a Basrah suburb.

Thainoi lives out in the sticks, he has had a dog poisoned in the past, followed by a robbery. It is not Udon Central out there &, personally, I do not blame him for taking "sensible security measures".

Crikey, then I stand corrected and apologise.BobHelm wrote:Thainoi lives out in the sticks, he has had a dog poisoned in the past, followed by a robbery. It is not Udon Central out there &, personally, I do not blame him for taking "sensible security measures".
Sorry Thalenoi, I was out of order.
