I see Man Utd have now got a work permit for 21 yr old Serbian winger Zoran Tosic (I can see the media having fun with that name). Must have been important as Fergie attended the hearing in person!!

Wayne Rooney celebrates his goal against local rivals Manchester City.

Hang on, didn't we have Wayne in an earlier topic?

As predicted Liverpool "thumped" West Ham 0-0 and go one point clear at the top of the table.
Personally I find the situation at the top of the league very interesting.
I quite fancied Chelsea at the start of the season but they are proving surprisingly fallible at home, also poor results against the other top 3 teams who they have all to play away yet.
Liverpool grinding out results but lack the cutting edge without Torres whose hamstring injury must be a concern to them.
Man Utd,still not entirely convincing though they may now embark on a long unbeaten run now I've stopped watching them at the Charoen !
Arsenal, you can never write them off and they have bounced back well after one or two disappointing results.Good performances against both Chelsea and United.

At the moment I dont think there is any clear favourite for the title.Could be any of these four.

Villa, not quite top four material yet but should be safe in fifth for a UEFA spot.

Also interesting at the bottom....currently WBA,Blackburn and Sunderland but at least half a dozen other clubs could be dragged into the dogfight including the two other North East clubs.
At least there doesnt seem to be a team completely out of their depth like Derby and Sunderland in recent seasons....Stoke and,in particular,Hull are doing OK.

Just to help you out on who NOT to pick in your fantasy teams, I've been doing some checking on the reported injurys over the last few seasons:-

JULY 2005 to DATE

Liverpool 126 injuries reported
Chelsea 159 injuries reported
Man Utd 175 injuries reported
Arsenal 206 injuries reported

NEWCASTLE 239 injuries reported #-o  ](*,) :fryingpan:

And just for Ralph........

Portsmouth 153 injuries reported

I blame the influx of foreigner players ....... we didn't have all these injuries when we had 'ard as nails' Geordies in the team

Yes good comeback Stokie... A few late shows yesterday. Hull 0-1 down with 11 minutes to go. 2 goals in 8 minutes to win 2-1. United win in stoppage time, and Stoke get a point in stoppage time. Souness didn't make any predictions and Liverpool win3-1. (They used to burn people like him at the stake you know?)

Stoke a very respectable13th... Just look at the teams below them... ImageImageImage

Watched the Man Utd. game last night. They must have had 40 shots onn goal to Sunderlands 2or 3.Looked like a practice of trying to score against 10 men in the box. They finally got 1 in the net in stoppage time.Never seen a game like that!Sunderland darned near pulled a point out of an total defensive game!

Ok, congrats stokiebaz =D> =D> mmmmmmmmmmmm that hurt ...... as did dropping 2 more points ](*,)

Did anyone notice that JK found the answer to Rory Delap's throw-ins.
The pundits on TV have all been asking "How can he be stopped", the papers have posed the same question :-k

JK watches the first half, and the problems being caused, then:- ...........

tells the groundsmen to move the advertising hoardings nearer to the pitch.

Two throw ins later (neither having cleared the first defender) Delap gets substituted.

Footballer held in assault probe

A Premier League footballer has been arrested accused of assaulting a woman in a bar in central London.

Marlon individual, 28, who plays for Hull City, was arrested on Wednesday when he voluntarily attended a police station after the incident on Sunday.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a 20-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted at the Soho Revue Bar, in Brewer Street.

Mr individual has been released on bail. A Hull City spokesman refused to comment.

Striker Mr individual, who is on loan from Wigan Athletic, has played 15 times for Hull in the Premiership.

On Saturday he scored the winner in Hull's 2-1 home win over Middlesbrough.
