Chips you got to be kidding a proper baked spud, dripping with butter and fresh chives, now not a micro wave but cooked properly in a oven. A fresh tossed salad. Now folks that is not meal you get everyday in Udon.

Paul I thought you were sharper then that everything goes over my head, that's why life is such wonderment to me

They look great, but surely there must be a misprint in the price,or the decimal point is in the wrong place.

Not a misprint, it is the American version of Japanese Kobe beef, which can cost over $600.00 / pound

I know this is an old thread. I was doing a search on Bacon in Thailand and Google and I ended up here. I love a good feed of meaty bacon for breakfast now and again. From my experience in Thailand (not Udon yet), the bacon served up in Thailand is the American version of Bacon. That is, -- just the fatty tails, less the meaty eye part. I had the same disappointing experience in USA. English bacon of course has much more tasty meat and a lot less fat. I can only assume that the the American influence in Thailand since the Vietnam war is responsible for this Thai conception of what bacon is supposed to be.

One thing that really disappoints me and I am sure a lot of Brits and Aussies is to sit down to a big breakfast of bacon and eggs and find the main ingredient of bacon is nothing more than the American style, fatty tails. For the Americans I imagine its like ordering a good cup of coffee and getting a cup of instant decaff.

The British call that stuff you talk about, Streaky.
The fatty stuff is only used once a year to lay on the Turkey breast to stop it burning, and to wrap little cocktail sausages in.

The favourite is Back Bacon, where can you buy it in Udon Thani.
