Tony Hart dies

Post by stattointhailand » January 18, 2009, 7:38 pm

Children's TV presenter Tony Hart has died at the age of 83, the BBC said. Tony Hart appeared on art programmes for nearly 50 years before retiring in 2001 because of health problems.

He was most famous for fronting children's art shows including Take Hart and Hart Beat.

Mr Hart's agent Roc Renals said he died in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He said: "I was for many years his best friend, agent, manager and publicist.

"He suffered two strokes many years ago and his health declined since then."

Yet another (now all too frequent) sad loss ... RIP

And BM just mentioned him in the favourite TV shows thread! Was Vision On the other programme he appeared on?

Yes indeed a sad loss. May he rest in peace.

R.I.P. Tony Hart, i always loved the idea of Vision On so that deaf kids could enjoy a bit of TV.
He always came over as a real genuine person and little Morph was great to watch.

I watched Tony Hart through all his shows, either when i was a child, or when my daughters were growing up. He was in Vision On 1964-1977, Take Hart 1978-1984 for which a BAFTA was given in 1984, and Hartbeat 1985-1996. He did so much for several charities in his lifetime. I will remember him with great affection, for being genuine and honest, and a great childrens entertainer.
