If you are carrying any luggage, be aware the bus will drop you on the other side of the road to the terminal (alongside the train station). You will have to lug the luggage up the stairs to the overpass, cross the road, and then down the stairs. You then have probably another 2 - 300 metres to get to the terminal.

No luggage - no problem.

The taxi ride is why I always fly into BKK on Sunday mornings.

No traffic and maybe a 30 min taxi ride. Sure cuts down the level of anxiety.

I THOUGHT the bus number was actually 555?

I understood (hope) that for the REVERSE journey from DM to Suvarnabhumi, the bus actually comes into the airport ,immediately outside the sliding doors as it were. Soon to help out a friend's wife, twin 5 year old daughters and comprehensive luggage, I won't be hauling stuff over bridges. A single taxi's boot not big enough to handle the luggage. But also believe there's a minibus service too.

The price for a van from Don Muang to Swampy is 50baht + 50baht for suitcase. Coming the other way is cheaper, 40baht. The good thing about the van is it goes straight from door to door.

If you use a van, beware, the drivers don't hang about. In December I had to sit in the front, next to driver, no seat belt. At times he got up to 160kph with the vehicle infront about 20 foot away. I,m not sure exactly how long the journey took, but would be surprised if it was more than 30 minutes.

Sorry Zac - I didn't read your OP properly.

The information I gave is for Swampy to DM. I have never done the bus thing the opposite way.

Hi.
Did the run by aiport bus, DM to Swampy 1500Hr., 35B, 3months ago. Picked up bus outside DM exit doors and went to Swampy entrance doors. Time taken was approx. two hours. Bus stopped at many places to pick up or set down passangers. Plane was not leaving for U.K. till 2100Hrs so no worries.
Cheers Doug

Galee (or anyone who knows), where does the van leave from at Swampy?

And do you know the frequency of the vans ie how often they leave?

Cheers

Jack, go down to the ground floor. Not the first floor where you come out of luggage pick-up.
Once on the ground floor turn left and about 60-70 mtrs your see a desk, usually signed "Van to Don Muang". I think the most i have waited in either direction is 20 minutes, depends where the vans are in their journey.

Hi,
Geordie, it took me 1 hour and 56 mins. to transverse from DM to Swampy by the airport shuttle bus last year. The bus, witch cost 35B. stopped and picked up and let down passangers in Bangkok and did not use the fast way. This bus left DM at 1545Hrs and arrived at Swampy at 1741Hrs., checked this on my watch timer, no changing busses, I was not worried about the time as my plane did not take of until late at night. The vans wanted 100B and taxis 500B. Should be a lot quicker. I have done this run seven times and i have never done it in less than 1 hour in the past 2 years. Maybe i should get the Shoe to do the driving.
Cheers Doug.
