Hotel Information Requests
Hotel Information Requests
Hi, haven't posted here for awhile as have been turned off by non-response to repeated request to City Lodge for subj. Hope this is not an indication of the way things work up there in your neck of the woods and has affected my thinking about getting up there to spend some time to find out if would want to retire in the area. Now I'm an old laid back kind of guy, and I do have some experience with the "Thai" way of doing things which I can usually tolerate, but there are limits to anyone's patience and I just hope this is not an indication of what you retirees up there have to put up with on a day to day basis. Please tell me I'm wrong here and the benefits of living up there far outweight the negatives. Just wanted to get this out in the open, feed much better now. Thanks and have a great day. Old Bud
In their defense - the manageress of City Lodge had to go back to the UK for a few weeks and the management of the Irish Clock (which is the same owners) have been running both places with absolute minimum levels of staff.
Believe me they are rushed off their feet.
Not an excuse - but a possible reason why things have been a little slow lately.
I have PM'd you too about this

Thanks guys,
Have a much better understanding now and didn't think things were all that bad up there with hotels answering inquiries. The Irish Clock seems a very nice place and just thought the City Lodge might be a little quieter and I did like the looks of the rooms on their website, some of which have a view over an open field near by. You have reinforced by hope to get up there and check the area out, thought that would be sometime this month but you know how best laid plans are, now looks like late Aug or early Sep. Thanks again guys, have a good one and enjoy. Old Bud

Would i be right in thinking that the building that the city lodge is in was once a up market 2 floor restaurant, can't think of the name but it was 2-3 years ago,and i used to pay it a few visits, looked at photos of city lodge and looks similar and in right area ? Thanks
was'nt the name something city aswell?

Can You Dig It Dug.?
Thanks guys for that clarification, on their website the photo's of their rooms, the narrative for the 2nd photo from the left states that all rooms at the rear of the hotel look over an open field, just goes to show one how great the photos of a place can look till you get there and see it for yourself. Thanks again guys, have a great day and enjoy. Old Bud
I don't think anybody is suggesting there is anything wrong with City Lodge Bud, it is just that it is more or less town centre. As Lee says the ground at the rear is just a bit of rough ground, not a field as you and I would understand it. Houses as I recall surround this area.cnkbud wrote:Thanks guys for that clarification, on their website the photo's of their rooms, the narrative for the 2nd photo from the left states that all rooms at the rear of the hotel look over an open field, just goes to show one how great the photos of a place can look till you get there and see it for yourself. From previous postings on here, those that have stopped there have been very happy with it, although I have no personal experience.

Not yet John, but I imagine it will be any day now. They usually stay at the Charoensri Grand, Charoen and the Napali hotels. It looks like they will be here for Songkraan (Thai New Year) which is the busiest time of year. So for you visitors out there, if you're planning a trip to Udon soon, you'd better book yourself a room because accommodation is going to be very very hard to find.Has the green plague arrived yet and what will they do to vacancy rates in UT?
