In answer, the original French run brewery also called their product "Beer Lao" but supposedly was a real skanky beer... For those of you who make runs across the border, you might want to consider coordinating with the Beer Lao front office at the brewery to find out what days they may offer a tour of the brewery (used to be Mondays) where you can see the entire brewing process and get some free "tastings" of their various products; Beer Lao Lager, Beer Lao Dark (Dum), Beer Lao Light (blecchhh!) Carlsberg, and their new product Lanxiang (million elephant) beer. See their website here for contact numbers: http://www.beer-lao.com/ If you can get a group of folks together (10-20) they'll be more likely to get you a VIP style tour with a boardroom powerpoint briefing and you'll meet the BrewMistress herself!! Might be something to rattle around on the forum.. Maybe one of the beer aficionados would take point in getting folks together for a trip..
