London snow.

Post by Wisdom » February 2, 2009, 4:27 pm

London and south east worse snow since 1991. Up to 10 inches fallen. No London buses now or night buses last night at all, now 0920 here. Trains and tubes severely restricted. A winter wonderland :D . I can't work out if it is more a reason to live in Thailand or not, as i like snow! :? People ringing TV/radio "why can't England cope?". You can't have fleets of snow ploughs for once in every 18 years! Another dose of snow expected this afternoon, and Russian freezing 'wind chill' winds too! Happy days! =D>

2 runways closed at Heathrow... Looks like a Cyprus Airlines plane had a skid and ended up with front wheel in the grass and it appears to have lost the wheel.

I think they will be dishing out the Johnnie Walker now. And clean underwear.

I bet the pilot made a skid mark of his own.

Mrs. Westerby can't get into work at the Hairdressers today so she's off as well. She's had me taking pictures of the snow in the back garden. Silly old Moo has been here years and still insists on taking photos.

Brudder you fly gaw hok Russian Khungbin to Krungthep with stop at Tajikistan? :yikes:

I've just been outside to inspect BM's path clearing efforts. It doesn't look as though this snow is going to clear in a hurry, fun and games on the A3 to London tomorrow I think.

It's my bike. Hold still while I pump the tyres up.

Well it's supposed to be sunny in Hampshire tomorrow but ice on the roads first thing. Arjay, keep us posted on whether your brother manages to get airborne or not.

I'll be careful, BM. I'll check the TV reports and t'internet first thing and bin the trip in as a bad idea if it's too icy (which I think it will be). I've dissuaded the Dragon from driving into town in her MX-5 tomorrow - the flaming thing wheel spins like a good 'un in snow.

Yes keep Mrs Westers at home, i wouldn't even consider letting my Mrs out behind the wheel in that weather (if she drove of course)..and if you need your paths cleared again let me know i will be ready and waiting with my snow shovel at 6.00am, but can i wear some clothes next time please, the baby soft skin on me botty has chapped.

Wester's asked about my brother's flight out of Heathrow. It turns out it was cancelled on Monday due to the weather and he didn't get away until Tuesday. Unfortunately he had to spend the night at the airport as he could not get back to his Uk home.

I understand the bad weather has since spread to the north and west of the UK.

Some very good photos from BBC News:-

........ Some food for thought for those thinking of returning to the UK!! :-" ;)
