TORONTO, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Canada's federal court has ordered an HIV-positive stripper kept in a Toronto jail until she is deported to Thailand.

Suwalee Iamkhong, 39, was sentenced in August 2007 to three years in jail for criminal negligence causing bodily harm for infecting her husband and immigration sponsor Percy Whiteman.

A bid to grant her release on bond was denied by Justice Michel Shore, the Toronto Sun reported.

"If the respondent reoffends by having unprotected sex, this would result in irreparable harm for a victim," Shore wrote in his decision.

Whiteman said he didn't know of Iamkhong's HIV status until she collapsed in 2004 and was hospitalized. He also alleges she had unprotected sex with other men during their marriage, which lasted from 1997 to 2004, the Sun said.

"I never knew she was a prostitute in Hong Kong before coming to Canada," he said. "Everything came out in court."

There was no word on when the deportation was scheduled.

There was in-depth coverage of this trial on Thai Visa, and the comments of the poster, Bendix, impressed her lawyer somewhat. Her lawyer is also my lawyer, and he was interested to learn the trial was analysed by ex-pats on Thai Visa.

Did this story pop up before on this forum..? Her name and the Canadian connection rang a bell, but I had a search couldn't find anything on this news section.

Yes, the story might have appeared here previously. For sure it was on Thai Visa and perhaps Thailandqa.

It made the newspapers for a few days in Toronto, and just confirmed for most Canadian females that Thai women are a breed apart, and Thailand is a place where they do not want their husbands and sons to visit for any extended period of time even if they are standing guard beside them. 55555
