Nong Prajak M.C. Accident...Info please
There was a motorcyle accident involving 3 young girls on the M.C. ( no helmets and very young ??? ) and a pick up truck just below the water department.
It wasn,t the fault of the pick up driver, by the way.
Two of the girls while hurt looked o. k.
The other one was unconscious and didn,t look to good.
All where taken to Udonthani Gov. hospital via ambulance.
Does anyone have any news on this please, or indeed can suggest how i may be able to find out.
It happened 3 days ago.
I sincerely hope she came round and is on the mend now.
Yet another very sad incident to add to the ever growing list of statistics
Instead of fining people for no licences ect. why can,t they concentrate on these type of offences on a prolonged campaign and give them a big enough penalty that will make them and their parents see sense.
A few Thousand baht in fines ( plus an additional deterent ) will make up for some of the lost revenue from the minor 200 baht stuff.
Thank you
Parents, please do your best to cut this needless carnage out, it cannot be nice to find out your loved one has become another one of the list of victims.

Is it possible for Udon Map to start a campaign relating to highlighting a local stop and prevention type of action along with local government publicity.
Thank you
Thank you

Sorry no info on that accident....
BUT I do think that the police are doing a better job then before. Alot more checkpoints for bikes.
And almost everyday they are looking after the traffic light betwin Talat ban huai and udon christian school, for cars running over the red light.
Ass we all know, things take veeeeeeeeeery long time(in thai). BUT This is moving the right way.
HOPEFULY FUTURE PLANS FOR THE BIB: [-o<
1) More check points for cars (seatbelt/phone/lic.)
2) More check points for bikes (hjelmet/lic.)
3) More check points for redlight drivers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4) larger fines!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D>
DRIVE SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Forget all the checkpoints that cause traffic jams etc! They are not doing a good job!
If they want to do a good job, then cover all entrances from the schools everyday, then move to the factories etc.etc.,with stiff fines and temporary confiscation of the bike until corrections are made in reg,DLs and especially helmuts,2nd offense, triple fine 3rd offense, bike confiscated and sold to buy helmuts to be issued to those that need them.If issued a helmut and it is not worn while the bike is in motion, confiscate and sell the bike for more helmuts!
Issue notices through postings and media daily for 2 weeks, then enforce absolutely! If they want to do something about the problem they could !

Yes agreed its the only way,a big crack down it can be enforced but they won't like it....i bet there is not 1 Thai in the whole of Thailand that does not know of someone that has kopped it(dead or serious) through not wearing a helmut, i know its Thailand and this is a normal way of life for most and has been going on since bikes where put on the road, but its time to move on, everyone in Bangkok wheres one and i remember when that law(helmuts) came in i thinking to myself Nahhhh that will not happen tit, but it did....also get kids off bikes too,all just my thoughts but up to them its their lives their country, they know the risks.

Helmet laws have been enbfirced six day a week for the past six years. That I have been here. Doesn't change a thing, it's actually cheaper to buy a junk helmet then pay the fine. Thai donlt waqnt to wear them they will stick them on for he check point and put them back in the basket when they get around it.
You may rememebr I chased down an our of town biker at that hospital it is a very Big busy place,Without a name I don't think your going to have much luck. If you go there they will try to help you adn will do their best, But there is huge number of patients there. But this type of accident is not uncommon here. Go talk to them you may get lucky.

Any hospital will have a standard clause, patient confidentiality, they are not obliged to give out information , in fact the law prohibits that, having said that relatives will be given info.
Unless you have a contact , or a friend, name etc
try the Police, then again u will need to prove a professional reason for requesting the info etc.

Wazza your right but here if you explain hour trying to do something humanitatrin ( nice Haven't had my coffee yet) they try. But I think your on to somehing here these sound like teenage girls I would try to locate the family. Or better yet have a chat wih the Tuk Tuk drivers out front of the hopital that was close to them. They will have lots of gosip.
OK that being said now let me explain what a friend who has been here for decades and works with Thai's every day told me about my litle adventure. Even though you are trying to do something good, Thai's do not understand that behavior, from other Thai"s or farrangs. They will want to know what you really want from them. If they don't know you or your not family, they are very suspicious people, remeber we are b not the only ones that get conned in Thailand. Might be a box better left unopened
but in the end it's up to you

Unless you can show you are related it is very difficult, especially being a farang ( nosey ??? )
This morning on Phosri Road between the usual 2 sets of lights there were the regular check points on all the feeder roads.
There were several younger Thai who looked underage, helmet less and all on mobiles with a significant number of passengers.
Grouped in threes and fours ????
Presumedly trying to contact parents, relatives or friends to bring the fine imposed and get their bikes released.
Why oh why don,t the police impound their bikes for a stiff period of time, along with additional monetary penalties to deter them and punish their guardians big time for buying them and allowing them to break the law ect. ect. ?
A wonderful opportunity missed in my humble opinion.
Not least a significant number of casualties and sadly some with a wasted and distressing loss of life.

It is a sad fact that the major payers in these cases the insurance companies are not exercising the right of NOT paying for stupidity or not having a licence to drive as in western countries no licence you are uninsured.
A short note I saw an article recently in which the Land Transport dept is going on line to deal with the 5 million l;icenced drivers and the 8 mill vehicles, either that was a reporting error or Thailand has about 60% of its vehicles and about 90% of its drivers unlicenced .
SAYS IT ALL REALLY DON'T YOU THINK.

Re: Nong Prajak M.C. Accident...Info please
The article I read similar to that was that the Transport department was going on-line for vehicle tax renewals only (providing the vehicle is 5 years old or less)
Its a start in the right direction but I think as a new start up they would certainly not try to deal with 'millions' of cases as in your statement above. Seems some wires have got crossed perhaps ?
