Udon Thani the Farangs Graveyard

Post by Prenders88 » March 8, 2009, 7:17 pm

From Stickmans Guide to Bangkok March 8th 2009.

"It is hard to say if there are more Westerners resident in Nakhon Phanom now than on my last visit, but for sure there seemed to be more around. Typical of Isaan, most were aged 50 up and many had that same sunken, almost desolate look that I saw amongst the Western residents of Udon. It's like they're at the end of the line and they know it."

Do you think you've reached the end of the line?
Do you know it?

I'll have to look in Boots or Watsons and ask for some Nivea for Men, Sunken Desolate Look Mositurizer. LOL!! :D

Yes, absolutely Mr. Stickman... Please stay away from the Udonthani farang walking dead.

So we can get on with our lives not have think about a jerk cheese like you, whose articles are by and large stereotypically on a permanent barbituate, down at heal trawl of the undergrowth you live in. :sleepy:

I think stickman is basically being, ageist! Oh, and stupid. :fryingpan: What is he saying? That many in Udon are 50 plus. Well, what a crime that is. What is this with the 'sunken desolate look'! What is he on about! :? Udon i would suggest, being quietier and far cheaper than Bangkok, Phuket and the like, is bound to attract an older farang in retirement. But i would suggest looking around here in London suburbs is in the cold grey wet miserable crowded place, if any over 50's are going to have 'sunken desolate' looks, it'd be here! But i don't see it here, never seen it in my trips to Udon. One day stickman'll be over 50, maybe he already is, lets hope he looks in the mirror, and he may have a sunken desolate face looking back, ahhhh, poor poor stickman! :ugly: What a prat!

Nivea for Men, Sunken Desolate Look Mositurizer.
You could be onto a good thing there... Get together with one of those OTOP ladies that sell the cosmetics and re-label some moisturiser. A sure fire winner. What is the number of the patent office? :-$ :-$ :-$

Irish Alan looking Sunken, desolate and in need of moisturiser.

So, I could retire to the Costa Geriatrica in Sussex, with my tea and biscuits and wait for the children to visit, like my parents did 25 years ago. Of course, might be able to afford a pub lunch once a month.

Or, Udon. Double the sunshine, half the price, and womem under 60 still look at you as partners (whatever the terms). Ok, I'll go book the ticket. I'm sure the Stickman's of Bangkok will have taken the dive off of the bridge into the Chao Phraya river long before most of us shuffle off.

The expression 'you're as old as you feel' springs to mind. I still TRY and kick a ball about or play volley with the village locals - then return home for a cup of tea and biscuits.
