Re: Udon Thani the Farangs Graveyard
I think Stickman has a point, but obviously the way he presented it was embellished somewhat to make for 'better' reading.
Udon is full of 'old farts' from Farangland, some of whom who like to go out and chase skirt and generally act like teenagers. Good on 'em! =D>

My dad told me that "LIFE BEGINS AT FORTY", so if that's the case, MOST of us ARE teenagers

Re: Udon Thani the Farangs Graveyard
thats not quit true , most of us in fact are fossils ,that just think we are teenagers . and to be honest when i see a few of them out and about , thinking there casanova after a few sherbets , i cringe . i always put there behavior down to alchohol . as they say , drink makes boys think they are men , and men think they are boys . :-" :-" :-"stattointhailand wrote:My dad told me that "LIFE BEGINS AT FORTY", so if that's the case, MOST of us ARE teenagers

suppose that's a case of "I THINK THEREFORE I AM"

Re: Udon Thani the Farangs Graveyard
If anything, I think ex-pats probably look and feel fitter in North East Thailand due to the climate and lifestyle. Sounds like Stickman is trying to stimulate some debate among the Isaan Farang, or he has an axe to grind.OP wrote:Typical of Isaan, most were aged 50 up and many had that same sunken, almost desolate look that I saw amongst the Western residents of Udon. It's like they're at the end of the line and they know it."
Do you think you've reached the end of the line?
Do you know it?

Tamada wrote "The unbelievably young and talented Mrs Tamada and I have already worked out this one. I was concerned that the adult diapers already available locally are totally unfeasible for my geriatrically extended and extremely pendulous scrotage, not to mention the bigger-than-average and (so-far) pharmaceutically un-enhanced Mr Happy so for now, as in my pending dotage, I will wander around like my wee boy, tackle blowing in the hot northeast breezes, drip-dry and no worries about stinky bits."
Tamada,,, great writing,,,, A+ for you. =D> This one had me in stitches, trying to explain it to the wife while tears running down me face. You simply must write a rebuttal for Stickman to defend the honor of all geriatrically challenged falangs residing in Udon. Cheers

Re: Udon Thani the Farangs Graveyard
you are all upset because stickman(not me) fired an arrow and it hit he target ...
Re: Udon Thani the Farangs Graveyard
^ I think izzix is upset because Stickman failed to get a real 'rise' out of the Udon geriatrics and coffin-dodgers club.
On the other hand, the unbelievably young, beautiful and talented Mrs Tamada...

Not quite, its a toss up between your inane posts that are copies of information easily available on the web and stickman's crass stupidity.izzix wrote:you are all upset because stickman(not me) fired an arrow and it hit he target ...

Re: Udon Thani the Farangs Graveyard
Gentlemen.geriatric is defined as being the medical care and treatment of old people or the infomal definition... too old to work well.
NOW having been here for nearly six years most farangs I see are not in any of the above categories, there were a few, one or two have shuffled off this mortal world, but as for being Geriatric or Old fart, I object, not as old and some postees but older than others, we are doing oursleves a dis-service.
Most farangs i see work very well thankyou either doing a small job or taking care of their other halves ( nuff said about that i think )
maybe Stckman was aiming an arrow to strike a nerve, but we are also agreeing with the tine of the original post, many are agreeing we are old.
WE ARTE NOT OLD, some are physically challenged , some are mentally challenged some are just old , but none of us are geriatric with one or two exceptions.
Farang graveyard I beg to differ 100 %.

Re: Udon Thani the Farangs Graveyard
Well, maybe it is a farang graveyard - because most of us would be happy to die in Udon (eventually!).
Re: Udon Thani the Farangs Graveyard
My dear old 88 year old mum is in hospital at present having fallen in her home and broke her ankle. Sadly its not her first fall, and she will now have to go into a nursing home, and my brother and other family checked a highly rated one in North Kent, 12 miles from London. Looking around it was clean, well run, big individual rooms overlooking fields, good staff. Sadly she'll have to sell home as it is £900 a week!rick says: well maybe it is a farang graveyard-because most of us would be happy to die in Udon (eventually!).
But the whole experience so depressed me! The residents were so quiet, tv rooms with tv on but no-one watching. Some poor souls asleep looking like the painting 'The Scream'. It was awful. I know it is safe and 24 hour care but, well. The family have been able to keep her in her own home until now but with sight, hearing, sense of smell, mobility all going, it loooks like it has to be this.
Now i don't want that, and if i can get anything better for my mum i will! If you have a good wife/partner in Udon though, wouldn't she look after you in your old age, following the Asian family values? Do any Udon farangs end up in a care home? I don't know. But the western final chapter scares the hell out of me, i think probably the Udon experience would be better? Like rick, i think i'd be happier ending up in, Udon Thani, the Farangs Graveyard!

Will have money, will have honey. TIT? Is that a comment, an insult, or a mis-spelling!
Re: Udon Thani the Farangs Graveyard
PhilR..If there is ANY other Solution apart from the Care Home for Your Mum.....Take it,DON'T Put her in one IF IT can possibly be avoided....Like can't any of the family build an extension ( Granny Flat ) onto their homesPhilR wrote:My dear old 88 year old mum is in hospital at present having fallen in her home and broke her ankle.
