Shoes size 12 (Europe 46)
Re: Shoes size 12 (Europe 46)
Go to the bus dept look across the street you will see a small soi it's on the right hand corner. I have no idea where the Silvre reef is. Same street as Robinson. Don't look for big place it's not it's another one of my hole in the walls.
Re: Shoes size 12 (Europe 46)
Went and saw. Not sure. Between a 108 Easy computershop and a massage shop. Just a tiny corner space with only two walls. Its opposite a shop with some 'udon radio' banner in the window. It's about 100m south from 7/11 at bus station 1 on the opposite side of the road.
Is it the place?
Anyway, he wanted b1500 to make sandals.

Re: Shoes size 12 (Europe 46)
i'm sticking with my 100-200 baht one piece molded, soft, usually kito or adda brand. get a year at least, and comfy. have had from 2000 baht and down, all crap, less than 3 months usually. anything glued, fails, 3 layer sole, seperate, glued straps fail........no more, had a nice comfy pair, mere 400, failed less than a month, my last attempt and more than 200 flip flopswanted b1500
they pair blew out unexpectedly, picked a 49 baht comfy flip flop, but not made for heavy weights, starting to flatten out already. no surprise though, just a hold over pair, but haven't found my regular choices yet
Re: Shoes size 12 (Europe 46)
I finally found the Sports World shop on the 3rd (for Europeans 4th) floor - close to the stairs from the cinema. No big sandals - only jogging shoes.
Do I have to go to BKK?

Re: Shoes size 12 (Europe 46)
Have you tried the shoe store Bata. I can't guarantee they have size 12/46, but you never know. There's one located in the mall, I forget what floor but it's across from a radio control toy kiosk. There's also one located in Big C, ground floor.philo wrote:I finally found the Sports World shop on the 3rd (for Europeans 4th) floor - close to the stairs from the cinema. I brought a pair of those Viet tyre sandels back in 1998, still going to this day...it must of been a Goodyear for them.
Re: Shoes size 12 (Europe 46)
Thank you all for your kindly advise.
I will try the BATA, but for now I can walk un-barefeeted for a few months more.
I found a shoe making/repair place (not a shop - they work on the pavement) that put on new soles to my last pair of sandals. Price? Philantrophic B300.
They work on UdonDutsadi Rd. between the Fountain Circle and the Prince Prajak monument. On the map it is somewhere lik M13. On the right when your heading for KK.

Stantheman,,, sorry, can't help with a shop location, but I'll bet you'd have much better luck finding one in Nakhon Phanom (VietNamese that is). And yes, you're right , the straps were the weak link. A good American 6-ply truck tire was the best,,, 555. LL
Beer Monkey "it must of been a Goodyear for them." Ouch,,,, I didn't see that one coming.

I have to point out again, the 2 pair of sandles I bought at that shop over 2 years ago, maybe 3 years, are great!I wear the first pair everyday and they are in great shape!I have not taken the second pair out of the box since I brought them home.2000 baht a pair!
Re: Shoes size 12 (Europe 46)
This store definitely has larger size sandals. Repeating myself but us more mature ones do do that: asked for size 12 and the salesguy yelled something up to the hole in the ceiling. A few minutes later a box with my sandals dropped thru to the floor. A perfect fit.BKKSTAN wrote:philo, Try the store next to Robinsons on the 2nd floor!
Upon Git's recommendation, I had a pair of boots made recently at the shoemaker across and down from the central bus station. Very good quality in my size and extra wide. Asked the owner about sandals and he says he can duplicate a favorite pair of mine that I brought over from the states. Has velcro straps that I like and, of course, extra wide. Will give him a try at making these next.
Re: Shoes size 12 (Europe 46)
I should mention that I finally pulled the second pair of sandals out of the box after about 3 years of good wear from the first pair.the problem was that on the first pair, the rubber covering the stitching started to crumble! No problem .good value right?polehawk wrote:This store definitely has larger size sandals. Took the second pair out of the box, feeling great and smart that I bought 2 pair!!
10 minutes later,I noticed chunks of rubber everywhere I walk, the rubber on the soles was breaking off in chunks, they didn't last the day out

Joking apart, I've given up long ago trying to buy foot wear in size 46 in Udon.
I either bring them over from the UK, or buy them in Bangkok from Mr Pom http://www.massimoshoe.com
yeah its an urban myth ,,,,,, mind you it gives me a short lived feeling of being wanted as I walk out the shoe shop with me new size 12,s on after I have asked them to stretch them a bit for me
Re: Shoes size 12 (Europe 46)
Since 4 years I wear the same model of black sandals from Bata, 299฿, they even didn't change the price.
When they get a bit old I buy new ones and use the old ones in the field, garden. One pair per year.
Size 11, which is 46 to me, Bata everywhere.
Good to read about sport shoes available, now only rubber boots remain the problem to solve...
Joe
PS Stan, was that 2,000฿ for 10 minutes? Nice buy
