Foreign Ministry verified translations

I need to get a verified translation of a marriage- and birth sertificate done. I have done it myself before at the foreign ministry close to the old airport.

I would like to know if there are any services in Udon: You hand them the documents, your passport and the money -and then get the thing done w/o going to BKK yourself.

Thanks to both of you. I will check it out (although i am a little bit worried that the good man is writing 'TRANSLATOINS' on his web page).

2-500 Baht would be normal for translation of one page. But I need it to go to BKK, verified by the foreign ministry, and returned. Is the 500B price for real (the FM wants B200 if you wait one day, B800 if you need it done within 3 hours)?

Having been to Bangkok quite recently(and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) I was able to get documents translated for 300 baht. These translation services were close to the British Embassy, lots of competition. So the Udon price seems a bit high, although we’re hardly talking a fortune here.

If I was aware it was possible to get paperwork done by post, then I might well have saved the expense of travel and hotel accommodation. However, the British Embassy certainly wanted to see me personally and I thought that was the case at the MFA too, where they ‘rubber-stamped’ already translated documents.

A very pleasant lady at the Embassy did suggest some ‘touts’ were offering services, which could not be official. I appreciate that, in Thailand, one can get copies of just about everything, but personally I’d be concerned that certain documents might not stand up to scrutiny and certainly don’t like the idea of parting with my passport for any length of time.

Of course, at many offices, there are operators who can save you time, for a fee, because they know someone ‘behind the counter’.

personally I have always found that if you use a transalation service near to the ministry, you can infact save yourself a lot of problems as the transalators know how the relevant ministry likes it.
They put in the important bits and leave out the baggage so to speak.
The onothing I have really had transalated was a marriage certificaye, I have used Udon transalaotrs before but to be honest much of muchness, opn both occasions they actually transalated a word incorrectly that caused major problms, and to get them to redo it correctly was a nightmare.
I now use a friend of mine who has a friend in Bangkok who does it for friends only ( sorry), excellent and nothing wrong.

You can send your documents to a Bangkok translation office they will do all the work and post it back to you. I have used international translations in the past

I sent them documents from Europe they translated them, brought them to Thai foreign affairs and then got them stamped in an Embassy and posted them back to me.
