Should have found a yank and a wire coat hanger, Ralph. That door would have been unlocked in a flash. Might have left a few scratches for the owner to sort out though.

ok, so when i park my little vios there, i guess i'm supposed to leave half the car hanging out of parking spot, thus blocking that opportunity to get boxed in. might have to put couple red cones around it.

or to be kind, block two empty spots, not to block anyone in.  8)

No Roy, I was quite polite, words to the effect "You did not leave the handbrake off, you stupid pr-ck.he replied" yes handbrake not on", after asking him to push his car, which obviously he could not, he checked handbrake and said"Not on when I left car" so I wai, and said "Pee do it" ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Bike parking isn't much better when it's busy, you have a big one. First day I Left mine on the road outside, bit of walk but in and out quick. second time I tried the bike parking, they don't make slots for full size bikes. But easier the Ralphs experience.

The novelty and the prices will hit eventually so less cars to be parked at the same time. I liked the old Nisson store down town but ony went ocasionally because of the aprkign. That problem is solved now.

someone had parked behind me, and left his handbrake on, one and a half hours later, we managed to get out!!!

Yes, that is exactly what I would have done.
At the Charoensri Mall they have these two car jacks on wheels, and they just lift the offenders car and move it, that is if you can find a security guard.
Are these people stupid or just farang haters!
I think they are unaware of anyone else in the world and are only concerned with themselves and getting what they want...now!

Yes, I predict after this holiday season is over and all the children are back safely in school, will Carrefour settle into its groove. The holiday season won't be over, IMO, until after May 11. Remember, Friday May 1, Wednesday May 5, and Friday May 8, are all bank holidays. That's two 3 day weekends in a row!

We were there again yesterday, arrived 9:30am and departed at 10:45am, no problems. Once again, easy checkout.

This visit, I had a chance to do some price comparison. I saw many items that were the same as the other guys, a few items that were less than the other guys, and a few items that were a few baht more than the others.

Took a look around the food court. Nice open, airy space. My only concern about the ground floor is the cacophony of undesirable sounds coming from every direction. One of these days, someone needs to explain to me, why the Thais insist on loud jumbled sounds at their shopping venues.

got in there today, about 3pm, parking lot full, not good, as i consider that off hours. forget rush hour or weekends.

i will sadly join the unimpressed crowd.........after the pattaya store, there really isn't any comparison. sad, as i recall their promo from pattaya opening, that all new large metro stores will be built to this standard.........they failed, udon is way too big to have such a small carrefour.

nice to have a bit more competition and a few more choices, but doubt if my shopping habits will change. same as today, monthly stock up at ngee soon for dry goods, then tops for meats, and makro for anything i forgot. big c as a lost resort, only because it's down the street.

next big thrill, that mega lotus

I had a quick read through 6 pages to not find a single word about the - for me - most important info: is the children playground better than the one in Big C? Do they have one at all?

I've always thought 3pm was the worst time of day to go shopping, plus today being Friday. However, we keep forgetting:

I stand corrected, I found out today, that Monday, May 11 is also a holiday. So, that will one 3 day weekend followed by a 4 day weekend. Oh joy...I'm so happy.

They have a big game arcade on the ground level...I did not have the courage to go near it...too much noise!

may 1 - 5 - 8 - 11, labor - coronation -visakha bucha - royal ploughing, all holidays, not sure if all observed by everyone, but to many.

agree, 3pm not the best time, i usually try to get done before noon or shortly after, but late start, but much better than after rush hour or weekends, which i don't even attempt. 8)

Well I have read the posts and although I have not as yet entured into this store i think I can sum up what to expect.
parking terrible, so park the 4x4 in a place where reversing will not cause you a problem.
prices higher than the other two Big c and tescos,
For cheese, wine and some condiments ( sauces and the like ) better than the other two.

Bottom line seems a long way to go unless you really want to.
I will give it a try, but not high on my list.

on topic, KP, save the trip, you'll be disappointed. from your quick assessment of others, it doesn't seem it will please you either. don 't know if you've ever been in the one in patters, but a single guy could live out of there. prepared food, sandwichs, salads, bakery is very nice, had a pizza chain there that was decent, but not outrageously expensive.

as far as any competition being added to the area, think that is going to fail also. as i was looking for my breakfast cereal, 108 baht, not thanks, i'll wait, 92 baht where i get it. went shopping the other day, my breakfast cereal is now 109 baht at old venue, very sad. i notice, local venders don't know what a sale is, and instead, charge the most they possibly can. always at least the MSRP, if not more, and only time an item is on sale, is if it's a manufacturer's promotion, as it will be the same everywhere.

I guess that would depend on where one lives and where one spends most of their time. Since I live off the Western side of the Ring Rd., and go to the fitness center at the Sports College daily...it is very convenient for me.
I have yet to encounter any check-out or parking problems. But, once again, I only go shopping between the hours of 9am-12 noon.

Udon is not Pattaya! For people to have expected Udon Carrefour to offer the same as the Pattaya store is... ](*,) Reality is...Udon does not have the Farang population that Pattaya has (thank God).

Thanks KunKen, a question asked and answered.

However, on my visit to Carrefour on Thursday. I noticed the cheeses, luncheon meats, pates had been restocked since my last visit. The El Charro tortillas, frozen burritos, and chimicangas have all been restocked since my last visit. They had plenty of both Danitas and El Charro corn chips.
Let me just say, the whole store looked freshly stocked. Obviously, some are shopping and buying there.

In addition, this is also a payday weekend. You have all been warned...again.

I look forward to a possible subway and NY style pizza - they get those and i am there for life. It would be great if they also throw in an Au Bon Pain.

Maybe a better class of shopper at Tesco's. But seemingly better trousers at Carrefour! :-k

Source: Phuket Gazette
Thief lifts trousers

BANGKOK: A shopper at Carrefour supermarket had an embarrassing journey home after a thief stole his trousers while he was on the toilet on May 8.

Kasin Siriwichit, 24, reported the incident to Thong Lor Police. Mr Kasin said that around midday he went to use the toilet at the Rama 4 Rd branch of Carrefour.

In the cubicle, he took of his trousers and placed them on the floor behind the toilet. When he had finished his business, he looked down to find that his trousers had suddenly vanished, Mr Kasin said.

He said that in his trouser pockets he had his mobile phone and his wallet containing 800 baht in cash, his driving licence and ID card as well as other important documents.

The report did not give details on how Mr Kasin was able to get from Carrefour to the police station with no money and no trousers.

Mr Kasin declined to reveal why he had felt the need to remove his trousers in the first place.

Police said they would review CCTV footage from the supermarket to try and identify the trouser thief.

Carrefour would not let reporters in to photograph the scene of the crime.

ok, can someone verify if they sell Miracle Whip salad dressing/mayo. as i couldn't find it today, which amazed me. either sold out and something in it's place, or not a stocked item. i am out, and jones for egg salad and potato salad. tops has it, 99 baht, but expiration date is july. and lookes like the majority of the box is still on the shelf, they were completely out a month ago. not only lack a farang market/buyers, but poor inventory control, so they will be eating that product in another 6 weeks.

hope someone saw it at carrefour, think lotus still carries it, but also have the expiration date problem at times.........should of got in bkk   ...........thanks 8)

For some strange reason, all Kraft products have been noticeably absent or in short supply from all of Udon's shopping venues? :-k
