Help needed to track down daughter

Post by justin » May 9, 2009, 4:59 pm

3 days ago my daughter 'Gabriel' was out playing on her bike and never returned home. The next door neighbor said my ex-wife 'May' picked her up and took her without consulting me first. That evening I made a police report but neither the police or tourist police have been any help so far. They are searching for my daughter and have details of my ex-wifes car but they're unable to find her 3 days later. I'm extremely worried about my daughter, if only May would call to at least say Gabriel was OK but I have not heard anything. She has remarried and living somewhere in the Udon area but I have no idea where.

If anyone has seen May or my daughter please call me on 086-108-6359

This is serious matter, one that so often the plice do take lightly, maybe it is because you are a farang and she is Thai.
A couple of questions Do you have legal custody of the child ie is there a court order to state that?
Is the child staying with you because the wife walked out or is she staying with you because you ex-wife thought is was for the best.

If the answer is yes to the Custody, then you have every right to search and have the child back .
If however the second question is yes, then there will be much feet dragging and soul searching as to my knowledge ( I say that to my knowledge) in Thailand the mother normally gets custody and will assume it in many cases unless a custody hearing has declared otherwise.

I do so hope that you find pout that your daughter is safe, there are methods to find people but it is not cheap, although i am sure you must be at your wits end about this take some consolation that your neighbour is probably right and that your daughter is safe.

He mentions that a neighbour saw May picking the child up.

The way I read his post, he simply wants to be re-assured that the girl is safe. He wasn't asking for a lesson in child custody criteria.

Just to keep this thread alive, I spoke to Justin yesterday afternoon and there is no progress as yet. As you can imagine he is beside himself with worry and would be more than happy just to know his little girl is safe. The Police are doing there best but it seems his ex has gone to ground. Please look at the photo's again and if you see either Mother or Daughter contact the Police, thanks.

Agreed, but officially, it might also explain why the police are not exactly rushing to help.

Presumably, enquiries are being made with the ex's family and in her home village, because I bet they know something.

We all hope the little girl is safe and well.

If he knows the mother picked up the daughter, then I would suspect that he is looking for their location for whatever reason.
The post seems more ''alarmist'' than that.My first thought was the daughter might have been taken by strangers!I don't know the mother, but would she harm the daughter? :?

I WOULD NEVER SAY NEVER
reason is, that i have heard and seen people do really bad things and never would have thought they would be the type ,to do these things.
lets hope that may is just looking after her and nothing else has happend.

I knew May when she and Justin had their bar in the old Soi Falang and she was the responsible one... So I hope no stranger took Gabriel...

I know this is easy for me to say, dont do anything silly, even if you do know your ex took your daughter.

Keep your chin up, I hope you are doing well and your problem comes to a speedy end.

If it is the same "May from Justin" that was hanging around in Korat in a bar that she opened, I wouldn't call her "the responsible one".
again, this statement only stands if she was the May that had the bar in Korat.... :-k :-k

Justin

Have you contacted the Oz Embassy to report this ??? Gabriel is an Australian Citizen,

They would pressure the local Police to update etc..

Sorry for the late reply, Have been in transit for nearly a week and now in Perth, for a week

For all interested parties Gabriel is safe and well and back home with her Dad .An amicable arrangement has been made and hopefully there will be no repeat of this situation.
