Granite Supplier/Installer Needed.

Post by mseely » May 29, 2009, 9:25 am

Does anyone out there know of any Granite Shops and Installers in the Nong Khai/Udon area, other than the Wanghin Granite Shop?

I visited them yesterday. The owner/manager? Kwanjit Chotisupareak was nice & polite, spoke some English, took my measurements and translated them into the quantity of granite needed for my project.

Material costs were 10,800B. To cut the pieces to size only, she quoted 3,000B. After telling her I didn't think I was qualified to measure and install, she quoted 8,000B to measure, cut & install - later lowered to 7k. She was good and I'd recommend anyone visiting here.

MY QUESTION: Is she the only Granite Shop in the area? I can't seem to locate any others. I just want to get a couple more quotes before proceeding in a couple of weeks.

FYI: If anyone is looking for those thin sandstone-like bricks you affix to concrete walls/columns etc...She quoted me 250m2 delivered. Most shops are listing 300m2, dropping to 270. Global is 285 w/ delivery charge.

Thanks for any help you can give me.......

Mike

Don't know where the Wanghin Granite Shop is located, but it is maybe one of the following:

On the road to NK after ring road, there is a shop on the left (think this is the best), go a little more toward NK, and on the right is another shop, its near a u-turn area, maybe 1 or 2 up from 1st shop.

On the road to KK after ring road, (its been awhile) but I think one on the left, after that do a U-turn and there are I think 3 more. One also has a main shop near the big market downtown, but not much on-hand, have to order, sorry don't know the names, sometime I even forget my own. They all guard the names of the installers, like gold!

I got some granite worktops from a small place just past Home Pro (on the same side of the road) near a garden furniture shop

I got 2 kitchen work tops measured and installed for 9000Baht and that included cutting a hole for the sink and cooking hob and 100mm splashback fixed to the wall

Lee & Other Responders,

I've been to all the shops you mentioned (except the one's on the way to KK) since my posting. It was surprising to see the prices quoted were all within 5% of each other. The granite people have their act together on that.

Lee: Wanghin Granite telephone numbers: 081-964-5533, 081-965-0556, 042-206-327.

Thanks Guys,
Mike
